Cowtown’s PHX AM 2019 Qualifiers
Back to the Desert West Skateboard Plaza for another year of the best amateurs in skateboarding battling it out under the Phoenix sun. Pedro Delfino made things interesting early with a ski style transfer over the key hole and got the crowd fired up. The Pabich patch kids Cedric & Roman dominated their heats by taming the transition with inverts and airs on the big wall before the silent but deadly Nick Michel won the commentators vote for trick of the day with a one foot to 5-0 bonk on the pyramid rail. Thrasher Death Match 2019 Day 2
A heavy mood was cast over day 2 of Death Match after the news of Thrasher Magazine’s Jake Phelps’ passing. All of the logos were stripped from the mini ramp, painted black and then shredded by close friends for 30 minutes in a passionate session to honer the late great Phelps. The multi talented Na-Kel Smith got the crowed fired up on the main stage with some stage diving antics before Vans Skate team favorite Tommy Wright III shook things up right after. NYC’s City Morgue brought their genre blending brand to Austin and scared a few parents in the process before Del the Funky Homosapien closed down day 2 with jams from his Deltron 3030 album and finished with the Gorillaz hit “Clint Eastwood”.

Thrasher Death Match 2019 Day 1
Welcome back to Austin, Texas for another year of Thrasher Magazine’s barn burner of a festival, Death Match. Things got heated up right away on the Death Match ramp with Curren Caples,Chris Russell & Roman Pabich trading tricks on the coffin bar during the Tricks for Cash. Cleveland metal heads Midnight kept the torch lit (literally) on the main stage and got all the punks in the mosh pit churning before the hardcore headliners Youth of Today shut down day one in true straight edge style. We’ll see you later today for more Texas sized fun at day 2 of Thrasher Death Match at Weather Up in Austin.
