After rereading the manga and looking at Misha’s role in story again, i realized that ‘rewriting the past’ seems to be important theme for the story and characters. (And it was also one of theme in Pandora Hearts too).

I also love that this panel tells a lot about how Misha sees the world. Everything looks shine but it looks like its covering the darkness, as if it looks like escapism from dark reality in a way.

Anyway, here we go.

Jung’s take on the Hero has a twist then. Archetypal heroism is ALWAYS accompanied by darkness. But here’s the real twist. A truly Jungian one. Darkness comes not only from outside the self – from all those trials and tribulations the present themselves through the course of our lives – but also from within The Self. What’s more, this is the most potent test of all. It is our own degenerate nature which above all else, must be exposed, acknowledged, and if not defeated, then certainly fought against. (Source)

In many hero-villain stories, villains are meant to symbolise hero’s biggest flaws. That they are the dark side of heroes, the side they dont want to face. The flaw they dont want to adress.

image

Heroes of this story is our protoganists, Vanitas and Noe. Vanitas has classic self-sacrificing behavour that heroes has, he is just the more tragic and dark version of it cause of his violent side. Noe is the same cause of his simple desire to help others but just like Vanitas, he is not just pure good, he is gray.

image

And when it comes to villains, well, we have characters like Doctor Moreu, Teacher, Ruthven, Faustina who became cursed and steal names etc etc. Just like any other story, vthere are different kind of villains. Most of them is still a mystery to us but anyway. There are just cruel-natured villains like Teacher and Dr Moreou. Ruthven is mystery but he is meant to be parallels with Noe. (They both wanted vampires-humans war to stop). And Faustina is most likely tragic victim who end up loosing herself but her story is mystery too.

There are also characters like Mikhail and Astolfo who is on the wrong side and doing wrong things but not because they are evil but because of their tragic backstories. They are villains too in a way. Astolfo is parallel with Vanitas, he symbolise the old self of him, they only choose different paths cause of destiny in a way. Meanwhile, Mikhail is both parallel with Noe and Vanitas, as i and other people already mentioned.

image

The Shadow is not so much the hero’s nemesis, as his evil twin. It is that irrational, unpleasant and unpalatable side of our nature that we all possess. It is our own internal and unincorporated darkness which must be encountered and assimilated. According to Jung, it is precisely because the shadow is an integral part of our whole self, that it becomes imperative for us to know that it exists. In fact, it is impossible for it not to exists. And this knowledge seems to be entirely lacking in most of us. (Source)

As villain, Mikhail’s purpose in story is rewritting the past and this is exactly why i think he is the shadow of heroes. The dark side, the flaw of heroes that they dont want to face or adress because we know that Vanitas and Noe try to rewrite the past why projecting that past onto people around them. Even though, Mikhail is the antagonist for them, that they dont agree with his purpose and actions, they do exactly same thing in a way. (Not just rewriting the past, Vanitas and Noe act violent too and doing wrong things too so.)

Repetition compulsion is a psychological phenomenon in which a person repeats an event or its circumstances over and over again. This includes re-enacting the event or putting oneself in situations where the event is likely to happen again. This “re-living” can also take the form of dreams in which memories and feelings of what happened are repeated, and even hallucinated.(Source)

As an example;

image

Vanitas putting himself onto dangerous situtions for no logical reason. Just like when he admitted that he is the kin of blue moon to the all vampires. He is putting himself onto danger cause he is used ti living his life in danger. (+ Him pushing people is also cause of fear of loosing those people).

image

Or even the scene where Misha forced Noe to drink his blood. Drinking blood thing is sexual activity in a way so forcing Noe to harass himself is because thats what happenned to him when he was child. “Then, here, you can take my blood”. Offering himself as if he is some kind of “object”. He is sexual abuse victim and this is how he was treated and he unconciously repeats his trauma.

Or even the reason Misha is choosing an adult (teacher) even though he uses him. But unlike their past, this time they choose those awfull situtions to feel more powerfull but in the end, they repeat their trauma.

image

“We repeat what we do not repair.” —Christine Langley Obaugh (Source)

So i would like to focus on Vanitas projecting his past onto Jeanne and Noe and a little Noe projecting his past onto Vanitas.

image

Main reason why Vanitas chose Noe and Jeanne is because he thought he was so sure they wouldnt like him and he unconciously saw the traces of pasts in them.

First, with Jeanne.

image

The reason he found her interesting is because ‘she became weak cause she found someone to protect’. Jeanne’s desire to protect Luna is similar to Vanitas’s desire to protect Misha. He saw his past self in her and found her interesting.

image
image
image

- (Chloe-Vanitas parallels too.)

He also said he found her pretty attractive, he is right but its kinda weird that he is attractive to someone who is similar to his brother. A woman who exactly look like Mikhail, even their aura, their cute behavours, expresions seems to be identical.

image

Mikhail-Jeanne panels looks so identical, its hard to differentiate.

They both idolise Vanitas. And the way Vanitas try to look cool and impress them is similar.

(Actually similarities between those two and other things made me write this analysis.)

image

Compulsive repetition of the trauma may provide a temporary sense of mastery or even pleasure (but ultimately leads to chronic feelings of helplessness and a sense of being bad and out of control). (Source)

And he also made a promise to her, that he will kill her, before she hurted someone she cares about (Luca). Vanitas was so familiar with that emotion. Theory, whether Luna or he hurt someone they love (maybe Misha), thats why Vanitas thinks he should kill ‘that person’ before they become something monstrious and hurt someone they love. He projects what happenned to him, Luna and Misha on her issues. Vanitas most likely failed to kill ‘that person’ before the whatever happenned so he is trying to fix that mistake by helping Jeanne. By rewriting the past.

image

And even he is giving her a promise, just like how he promised Misha in the past. The promise Vanitas failed to keep. So this time he is making a promise that he thinks he can keep.

image

Later, the scene when Vanitas fell in love with Jeanne, the moment he felt warmth. That smile of Jeanne is exactly look like Misha’s smile with Luna and Vanitas, the panel where Misha said he likes warm things.

And with Noe.

image

He found him interesting with his cute expressive personality, (Just like Luna and Misha).

image
image

Jeanne is a character who is identical to Mikhail while Noe is more identical to Luna. Noe has black skin, white hair with mature, tall, big body just like Luna. He looks like the male version of Luna. (Yeah, Luna doesnt have gender but still, she looks like female).

They both airhead, adults with manchild personality, they cant handle things by theirselves so other people need to take care of them. + Mikhail’s past, worldview, positvitism is parallel with Noe too.

image
image

Also both Luna and Noe are the first people who really gave a choice to Vanitas and understand him. Also Vanitas show his vulnerable side to them and open up. Vanitas rely on him, the way he uses to rely on Luna.

The scene when Noe gave blanket to Vanitas to make him warm is also similar how Luna gave him blanket too, again to keep him warm, showing that he is loved.

image

And again, just like Jeanne case, Vanitas wants to be killed by Noe, before he become something monstrious. This time, he takes the opposite role. Just like how he killed Luna before its too late, he wants Noe to kill him.

Even the Tarte Tarin scene, Vanitas making sweets for Noe is parallel with the times he did for Luna and Misha.

+ Mikhail wasnt wrong when he thought his brother is kinda replacing him :’))).

image
image

We know Noe too. How he projects his failure to save Louis onto Vanitas. By protecting Domi and by trying to reaching out to Vanitas. Louis and Vanitas also looks identical, not by apperances but characters. They both suicidal kids who is full of self hatred, secrets, desire to be saved but wont ask for help, they both jerks who push other people away.

Even the way Noe meets them is similar. They both acted like jerks and Noe become violent agaisnt them but only to eventually be fond of them. + Also Noe is projecting his relationship with teacher on Vanitas cause of slave mentality. Noe was slave and he was bought bu teacher, thats why he tends to obey and idolize his master, this is what he does with Vanitas too, sometimes. He also acts extreme, just like the time he violently hurt Misha, just because of what Vanitas said to Noe in Gevaudan Arc and his possesive feelings of Vanitas, i think. I really hope eventually he realize how much messed up this is.

I am sure that there is more, the more we look it more, the more we will find out.

(I wanted to use more pics to show similarities between panels and scenes but you get the point and its tiring).

image

Humans seek comfort in the familiar. Freud called this repetition compulsion, which he famously defined as “the desire to return to an earlier state of things.” (Source)

As much as its looks messed up, its actually realistic. People in real life tend to choose situtions and people that they are familiar. People might (often) choose partner who is similar to their family members (parental figure, sibling figure) or ex partners/companion. Just Noe’s feeling familiar with Vanitas cause of his childhood companion. And both Jeanne and Noe are meant to be Vanitas’s partners. He chose them cause of the familiar feeling he had for his found family but of course, Vanitas doesnt see Noe as parental figure, the way Luna became for him. Jeanne is not sister-brother figure the way Misha was/is for him. They are meant to be his partners (maybe more equal relationship). Even though its good thing that Vanitas found more people he can connect, his relationship with both Jeanne and Noe are toxic, unlike the healthy relationship he had with Luna and Misha, before the accident.

image

Of course, besides all that ‘projecting their issues thing’, they had other moments. After all, Vanitas, Louis, Mikhail, Noe, Luna, Jeanne, despite their similarities, they are different people. And i think they grown to each others by knowing each others after some time. With Noe too. He is learning to pay attention to the person in front of him. They still learn. They still lack of self awareness. I think Vanitas has the some/a little self awareness but he still does it anyway while Noe doesnt seem to has that self awareness yet. They still try to rewrite the past with each others but at the same time, the more story goes, they learn to let go of it. As example, Vanitas’s saying to give up on forcing Noe to what he wants him to do.

image
image

Anyway, i hope they realize how much they project past onto each others, stop doing it and looking at the people in front of them. I hope Vanitas doesnt leave Misha behind while doing this too. Also they should realize that this is what Mikhail is trying to do and realize him, empathize with him and trying to help him (to move on) too. Its interesting that at least Misha is more honest about what he wants and what he does with his desire to live, with his desire to literally rewritting the past and with his desire to be happy. Well, usually, shadows are honest so they all should do.  Misha is more associated with life than Vanitas who just wants to die, i love how their trauma push them to opposite ways but at the same time, Misha always somehow keeps giving Vanitas a reason to live, even its force and he brings the kindness inside of him. This is what Vanitas should learn too.

floppyanimepost:

Guys!!

What if it is luna that is coming out of the book?

Like energy or soul stocked.

And the condition for that was that the 2 books had to reunit

This is what i think too. Those two books meant to reutined, just like Vanitas and Misha (ans hopefully also Luna and Fauistina) so. It makes sense.

justanotherniky:

It was Wednesday, 2 February 2022 (huh), the day after I finished the Vanitas manga (well, more like the day of, considering I finished it at one a.m… semantics, semantics). That morning I knocked rather angrily on @fullmetalgirl98‘s room door and after telling her to go to hell a couple of times, we started talking (read: fangirling, screaming and squealing included) about the recent happenings in said manga, and more specifically, on what hasn’thappened yet.

Spoiler warning? BITCH YOU THOUGHT. NOT THIS TIME. This is anime-friendly.

One of the main unresolved issues in VnC is Vanitas’s own name. It’s been bugging us, really, so on that day, during breakfast, we pulled up a list of French names on our phones and started scrolling. What would fit him best? What would make sense? What could possibly have a fitting meaning?

We speculated on a few options but one stuck out. And that was the name Raphael.

Of course, we know Vanitas and Mikhail aren’t actually brothers. But we expected the name to make sense in correlation to Mikhail’s. Mikhail is a Russian name, but the possibility of two Russian names was astoundingly far-fetched. So the other option was to find a different kind of connection: the next possible thing was the fact that Mikhail (= Michael) is the name of an archangel, and so is Raphael.

Not only would a religious meaning for the names make sense because of the connection between Vanitas, Mikhail and the in-universe church (through the Chasseurs), but the archangel Raphael is said to be God’s healer, patron of pharmacists, and among his symbols is a medicine vase. And we know very well how our boy likes to introduce himself:

It makes a scary amount of sense, now that I’m typing this out.

And now that this theory is out there in the world, it likely is doomed to stay so, a theory, because if birthdays have taught us one thing, it’s that it’s bad luck to say your wishes out loud.

But friends, I’m no mind reader, and I don’t know about you, but I like this theory.

Then again, his name might still be Rémy.

I love this theory, it reall make sense since Misha and Vanitas are meant to be opposite.

unsavior:

It’s honestly so surreal to me that Jun just has Vanitas let Misha go. Knowing he’s hurting, knowing that Teacher (obviously) abuses him, because what he did to Noe and Domi is abuse. Because who else is Misha going to go back to? He doesn’t want to be alone. I know Vanitas bonded with Noe a ton overtime, and I love their friendship. It’s the first true genuine relationship Vanitas has had despite his many, many, many, flaws. But it just seems out of character… at least for me. Vanitas is an asshole, but he’s never been an asshole to Misha.I just… (vague gestures) going to officially be canon divergent with that.

Same. Misha might be that one person Vanitas didnt act like a jerk to him in the past so its really weird. He tried to shot him when he saw him first. Then he told him he doesnt need him and made him feel like he has been replaced by Noe which was totally unnecessary cruel. He knew that Misha only has him, his only choice will be bringing Luna and trusting devil for it.

I think the reason is Vanitas doesnt see him as the brother he lost. He refuse to acknowledge the person in front of him is his brother, thats why he was ready to kill him. He also cant face/deal with the past. He cant face with Misha so he chose to run away by rejecting him. I also heard another theory that Vanitas pushing Misha cause he thinks Misha will die again cause of him, like how he always push people. He doesnt want to experience that lost again thats why he is pushing Misha away.

Though, still, he should’ve know that Misha is being used and taken advantaged of by that clearly evil man so even though it makes it understandable why Vanitas acted that way, its still doesnt excuse and it was really irresponsible of him to act this way. Anyway, hope, they will regret this decision and do something about it.

neversetyoufree:

We’ve all talked about/noticed all the parallels between Vanitas and Louis, but I’m really messing myself up today thinking about the parallels between Noé and Mikhail.

VaNoé really said what if I devote my life to working with someone whose worldview is cripplingly similar to the lost childhood companion I failed to save

Except Misha is alive, unlike Louis :’))), though we will see.

dapperrokyuu:

Man, this chapter really has me thinking.

Im caught between thinking what Noe did was understandable and feeling that Misha wasnt as large of a threat to have necessitated that. Like, ultimately, Misha was just a kid with a knife at that point, Vanitas certainly has gone through worse and has exceptional healing abilities. And why would Misha want to gravely maim Vanitas anyways?

Honestly, Im wondering if the Misha in this chapter was just Noe’s perception of him and he was in no way trying to do what was portrayed at all.

On another note, I feel like Vanitas couldve been sending Noe away so he could reason/deal with Misha, because I cannot fathom why hed ask to be left behind when Noes literally carried him multiple times throughout the series and could take them both to safety. Maybe Vanitas couldve reversed what was happening to Misha with some fomula revision?

I personally dont find it understandable, it was so, unnecessary violent and unnecessary for no real logical reason. It was also weird for Noe to act this way who is famous with holding back buti agree about the portrayal and perspective.

image

So i would like to talk about Vanitas and Misha’s relationship and mostly, i am gonna focus on Vanitas’s side so here we go.

I think Misha was perfect match for Vanitas, especially before everything happenned. We still dont know Vanitas’s past and we hardly ever see his thoughts so its kinda my speculation. When Vanitas was already with Doctor, he was most likely done with life. He lost his family, he couldnt even be hunter cause he was kidnapped. He will not even escape cause he doesnt want someone else getting hurted instead of him. He feels a lot of guilty for the things he had no fault so he was enduring the pain here. I dont think Vanitas was here “too long” because he doesnt look much different from the time he was preparing to be hunter. And he most likely wasnt involved with other kids much before Misha.

image

And then another child came. It was ever a lot younger than him. And it wouldnt hard for Vanitas to realize that this kid didnt come here from safe place. Because he was a boy who was dressed as girl, he had scars on his body but weirdly smilling.

image

Seeing Misha like that most likely awakened the protective side of him. Vanitas hates getting close to people and he hates people who Pity him but Misha is one person who cant do that because he is even more pitifull than him. He cant even turn a blind eye to him cause child is desperate for any affection. Also if it wasnt someone whose personality like him, it might not work either. Misha was perfect with his ‘easiely attached’ and expressive personality for Vanitas who is always distant and cold.

Note; I am not sure why he choose to call hım as Mikhail. Maybe he doesnt want to get close but he gets closed to him anyway, maybe because he finds it too girlish for boy, who knows.

image

After some time, at some point he couldnt endure to hear Misha’s screams cause if he didnt step in, Misha would die so he decides to sacrifice himself for him. After all, he wouldnt mind to die here. Then, this lead Misha to attached Vanitas and he says “you are warm” while hugging him. And i dont think Misha is the only one who felt warmth here. Vanitas felt it too but he doesnt want to feel that way. After all, he ,s omeone who thinks he doesnt deserve love and whats the point? They will die here anyway so.

This is exactly why i think Misha was perfect for Vanitas. His cheerfull and positive personality bring warmth to his life.

image

Even when Luca came to save them, it would really hard for Vanitas to ask for help or join to the blue vampire moon. After all, he is too pridefull to ask for help. He is too angry at vampires to trust another one. Which is why again, Misha’s being the one who takes that step change the sitution. Because for Misha, that person saved them so they are good. He balance Vanitas’s racism with his open-minded and naiveness. He most likely wouldnt even go with Luna, if it wasnt for Misha because at that moment, he thinks about his hatred of vampires.

image
image

(Btw, we cant really blame Vanitas being racist here, imagine encounter with some weird unknown creature, who would trust them? Apperantly, just Misha).

image

Of course, Luna is important person in Vanitas life because she gave him a choice after so long. She became parental figure for him. She let him be who he wants to be and help them a lot but i think Misha being there made it easier or even possible cause otherwise, Vanitas wouldnt really give a chance to Luna. Again, Misha was perfect with his easygoing, easy to be pleased and positive personalitiy with Vanitas who is always grumpy, hard to get along, negative personality. And by calling them big brother and father, some might say that he is giving them a role but i think its also the reason why they became a family. Not just for Vanitas but also for Luna too. He was like a bridge between them too. He is the also the first one/person who humanize them too.

image

And another thing i want to point out is how different Vanitas treat Misha, compated to the way he treat other characters during the series. Vanitas is very grumpy, he always complain about things, tease them, play with them, being tsundere, scolding them etc etc. Look at the way he treats Luca, Noe, Jeanne, Domi, Luna, Dante or Roland. Even when he likes them, that doesnt stop him acting like “jerk”. But its weird that he doesnt even bully Misha as a “joke”. He is specifically kind and protective towards him which is actually unusual for Vanitas, that he doesnt even tease or scold him cause he does with other people he clearly cares about cause he is tsundere but he wont do that with Misha.

image

Its just really interesting how he treats Misha. I think his relationship with Misha was the healthiest relationship he had, at least before Luna’s death. And they lived as a family for a while.

- - -

And one day, something happenned. Luna died, Misha “died” which really traumatized Vanitas. We dont know what exactly happenned but there is one thing we can be sure.

Vanitas’s remorse for Misha.

image

During the story, Vanitas hardly talk about his past and his feelings but he use Luna’s name “Vanitas” and imitate some of her behavours (and his father who was also doctor).

image

He even talks about his family being murdered by vampires, how he was treated as hunter and how he was kidnapped and used as test subject by doctor. He can talk about blue vampire, his revenge, past, he even meet with that doctor and somehow able stay calm and logical but he immediately break down when Misha was mentioned? That remembered Misha existed and how he wasnt here with him? All that events Vanitas experienced didnt freeze him but remembering Misha’s existence did?

This is really interesting and i think it proves my point.

image
image
image

People think about Vanitas’s past when Misha is literally right there. Vanitas feel a lot of guilty for leaving Misha behind more than anything. This is why he thinks about him time to time. He feels guilty for loosing him, for not keeping his promise. Misha is talking with him in his mind. Even though, he thought Misha was dead, those times.

image

I also think Vanitas view Misha as his weakness cause of what he said to Jeanne. “You are weak cause you found someone else to protect” which was the the reason why Vanitas started to interested in her and just like how he used to care about Misha (and Luna and his father), he started to take care for Noe too.

Vanitas see his kindness as burden which is why he view Misha as burden too because he think if he wasnt involve with him, he would die ‘peacefully’ before and wouldnt need to revenge with Luna and live with remorse. Though, he himself knows in deep that he is wrong. By being kind, he found himself a cute little brother and a home he can return, it just didnt end well but it wasnt their fault either so.

image

Also during the story, we dont see Luna and Misha’s faces in his memories. But at least  we see Luna more than Misha, he is hardly ever shown. Its hard to tell that he is even there. Most likely, it was really painfull for Vanitas remembering his brother.

image

Then he later found out that Misha is alive. He again looks frozen and broken. Which is why his next reaction looks really weird. That brother he was so protective of, that he thought he was dead is in front of him but Vanitas looks really cold and calm than he supposed to be.

image

I think the only logical explanation for this is Vanitas was so sure that Misha was dead that he simply doesnt see the person in front of him as his brother. Misha is dead, after all. Its not his brother. But he still talk him like that casually, most likely, he dissocate himself from this whole sitution. Both from Misha, Noe, even himself. This is why he was ready to kill Misha and Noe right there.

image

Well, thanks to somehow Noe’s being able to reach out to him, Vanitas finally come back to reality. This is most likely why this time he could able to look Misha softer, even trying to reach out to him. Though, he couldnt answer when Misha was angry at him for abandoning him. He didnt give any explanation, he just listen.

image
image

And when he realized Misha needed help, he remember (and stop distancing himself from himself) that Misha is his little brother, and tries to help him.

image

Misha tries to kill Vanitas but Noe hit Misha very violently that it triggers Vanitas. (If it wasnt Noe and for the sake of protecting himself, this would be more uncomfortable for Vanitas). Misha’s screams again broke Vanitas down, that as if he was in pain mentally. (Misha is the only (one of a few) characters can actually break Vanitas like this). And later, they passed out.

image

Vanitas knew his brother will come back to him so he was ready and this time, finally, he talked with him properly. He explained himself and what happenned to Luna but most likely not the whole truth.

image

He made sure that Misha wont blame himself for it. And he softly look at Misha when he said “deads wont come back”. (How many times we see Vanitas giving anyone soft look like this? Not much).

image

And Misha trying to reach out to him, trying to be together with him but Vanitas rejects him. Of course, he is not gonna trust Misha about killing him because Misha wants Vanitas alive, he wants his family. He trust Noe about this more because Noe understand and respect him as person more. Though, its not Misha’s fault for not being able to understand Vanitas cause he is a child, especially very broken one.

At least this time Vanitas try to not give a promises he cant keep but by rejecting him, he knows he breaks his promise but he rejects him in a worse way possible by saying he wants Noe to kill him which obviously make Misha feel as he is being replaced by Noe. (Thats why he cries a lot).

image

Btw again its unusual for Vanitas to ask someone to why they do anything/why Misha bothers to talk about Domi, of course, again Misha is not anyone for Vanitas.

image

(Also worth to mention before Misha goes, he mentions he love kind people by not only meaning Domi but also Vanitas and Vanitas also knows it. Once again, Misha reminding his brother that he loves him. :’))).

image

And Vanitas also let Misha go to his manipulator (he should’ve know that he is being taken advantaged of) which i think its something Vanitas will regret later. Vanitas still cant really face, accept his past and Misha which is the biggest flaw of his character. Just like how Misha cant bring past back, Vanitas cant erase the past either so they both will miserably fail eventually. They are important for each others both as person and characters.

image
image

After his encounter with Misha, Vanitas started to be more acceptance with his past and his feelings. Luna and Misha would look faceless in his memories, he didnt even seem happy before but now, we see in Vanitas’s memories (not Misha’s), that he was happy with them. I think, he is accepting it more, finally.

image

I didnt focus on Misha’s side cause its a lot simple and easy. He simply attached to the only person who was kind to him. He viewed them as family and he felt abandonded when he saw Vanitas with Noe and others. And now even saw that his brother is very cold towards him. Of course, he see it as being replaced, forgotten and abandonded. He is also angry at him for killing their father but he still will try to talk to Vanitas and try to make him come with him, his desperate for using Vanita’s hypnosis and “promise to kill him” shows how much he still desperately wants to be with his brother, It also shows how much he feels insecure with his relationship with brother which is really sad. He still loved him, even though he wont forgive him for what he did. And the reason he tried to kill him is also most likely because he wasnt himself at that moment so basically, its a lot easier to understand how Misha sees Vanitas while just like always, Vanitas always make things complicated.

Basically;

image

I think Misha is really important person in Vanitas’s life and Vanitas’s loving or connecting with other people doesntandshouldnt change that.

image

And yes, characters like Vanitas and Domi are kind for helping Misha, they were good big brother/sister etc etc but also, i would like to point out that Misha deserves that kindness, love and being saved. I also would like to think that its not just kindness, its also love, its also about loving Misha. (The love that Misha obviously deserves.) He might not be self sacrificing type of character but that doesnt make him any less kind than others cause they act that way cause of their trauma and Misha’s trauma is different. And i also think Misha saved both Luna and Vanitas in a way with his sunshine personality, his innocence and presence.

There might be things that i forgot to say but for now, thats it.

apetrichor:

I think the convenient time skips in Misha’s memories are from Noé trying very hard to see as little as possible. If Noé can “change the depth and details” of memories “at will” it explains why we’ve seen and learned so little from Misha’s memories.

image

Thanks for explanation. I am glad that someone say that Noe doesnt actually experience everything he saw in people’s memories and he doesnt see all of it either. This makes sense a lot.  It was weird of Misha looking like side character for Vanitas and Roland in his own backstory. Ooof Noe (I get it, you love Vanitas but this isnt right -_-). I hope we get Misha’s backstory more from himself as main character again. He is too interesting to be shadow of another character or ship. I hope he doesnt become background for the sake of ships etc.

retracexcviii:

Misha’s behavior

Since the Blu Ray volume 7 came out, I have been doing an analysis to the character of Mikhail since some doubts I had about him were answered after reading it.

At first, I thought that he was a little brat with a manipulative smile and a cold heart (such as Jack). Then we learned about his past, his mother, what Moreau did, etc. And I began to understand him, but I still had many questions about Misha’s actions…

In this example, we see him changing his mood in a blink.

This is uncommon for a kid of his age. He was clearly trying to appeal to the soft side of his brother and after seeing that it didn’t work, he changed the subject and continue as if nothing had happened.

You can see this conduct in young kids or babies because they know it works and they don’t know other way of get what they want. but Misha knows more. And, by the other hand, this can be seen in people with manipulative tendencies too, but they usually have a lot of experience in manipulate others and Misha is too young and hadn’t lived that much to be like that so, why is him like this? I have been wondering this for a lot of time, but thanks to the last special manga + some things I remembered that my biology teacher told us in class, I have an idea…

*** Warning: if you had read the manga/watched the anime you know how bad Misha’s childhood was, but just in case: child abuse below this point…

I am glad that more people understand his behavours too, like, especially he is a child so. I mentioned something like this in my posts too but your points are good too. Ooof, his past is so sad, sweet precious babyboy. Btw, i already knew this cause this is how i cry too ^^’ so seeing Misha like that was so relatable for me. I love him so much.
