Another plein air done in Ben Young’s plein air class, at Cabrilla Cliffs. Need to buy a hat so I don’t get sun stroke.

Finished my second full figure painting from Jeff Watts’ class last term. 15 hours from life, the rest from photos and imagination. The lower legs and feet, and green drapery are from phone photos, and I also reworked the face. The red drapery is invented mostly. 16 x 20, oil on masonite panel.

• A system of lines for navigating around the form efficiently
• Based off subcutaneous bone / boney landmarks
• Adding tracking lines for the muscles / levers, pulleys
• Avoiding chasing the model in the first 2-3 sessions
• Soft on top, hard underneath
