#we are heroes
Fox Television Group made a huge announcement at the Critics Association summer press tour, that they were slowly but surely working to close a deal with Marvel Entertainment that may bring us a live action X-Men ongoing television series. In an interview with THR, Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden had stated:
“We’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing.
The possible televised series has "Star Trek Beyond” screenwriters Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne attached, as well as “24’s” Evan Katz and Manny Coto, both of which will act as showrunners on the proposed series.
While 20th Century Fox owns the film rights for Marvel Entertainement’s X-Men characters, reports state that the Fox Television Group TV studio will have to negotiate with Marvel in order to use the characters on TV. When it comes to sharing the TV rights of the X-Franchise the two entertainment companies seem to be more friendly; as many X-Men characters, like Wolverine, Storm, and Deadpool, have appeared on Marvel’s currently-airing cartoons.
So what do you think? Could this potentially be the beginning to the X-Men’s eventual introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
One of the X-Men’s heaviest hitters and one of Marvel’s most iconic characters, Storm, has been fighting for peace and freedom for nearly 40 years. This summer, the Mistress of Weather is set to fly solo, for the first time, in Storm #1, and you better believe she’s bringing the thunder! Brought to you by New York Times Bestselling writer Greg Pak and fan-favorite artist Victor Ibanez!
One of the last true disciples of Charles Xavier, the spirited X-Man has always followed her heart and fought for what she believed in. She has been many things in her life, from goddess to queen to teacher and back again, but no matter where her life may take her next, Storm has always dedicated her life to fostering goodwill and protecting her fellow mutants.
“If you tell Storm she can’t go somewhere, that’s exactly where she’s going to go,” says writer Greg Pak, in an interview with Marvel.com. “She’s got an incredibly strong sense of justice and empathy earned through years of hard experience. And her empathy isn’t limited to whatever group she’s standing with at the moment. Storm will do the right thing–as she sees it–without apology. That’s incredibly strong–and potentially very costly for her.”
