Back in January I visited the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and saw this beautiful aloe flower. Inside the conservatory, you couldn’t even tell that it was freezing outside!
She’s my Hetalia OC and I really liked her! I made her a female because there aren’t much female characthers in Hetalia and since I came up with a girl design, I also wanted to draw Nyo!Greece who I see her as an older sister of Santorini~ And since she is my OC you’ll see her a lot in this blog!
I once read that Buddhists believe that karma is stored in your hair. Your hair holds your entire history- what you’ve put in your body, your emotions, your health. Just over five years ago this June my hair was up to my chin. I woke up one day, years later to discover it had become long. When I started modeling, it became tied into my look: it served as its own prop and twirled on command. I could feel it’s weight holding me down. I never particularly liked having long hair but everyone made such a big deal about it, so I just let it grow. Today I had my last shoot in Paris. Tomorrow I start off to St. Jean Pied du Port to hike 641 miles through Spain out to the Spanish coast and back in to Santiago. I feel like the last few months have been incredibly challenging. I’ve lost a home, friends, and felt like I was constantly being pushed in directions without knowing where I was being taken. I don’t know what the future holds. I don’t know if I will return to modeling full time after hiking the Camino. I do, however, know that when the universe is telling you to just let go, you have to do it and see where it takes you. It took just under 3 minutes to undo 5 years worth of growth. 3 minutes to feel another weight lifted off my shoulders, literally and metaphorically. ¡Buen Camino! May the future be full of infinite possibilities.
