last year, i challenged myself to draw animal crossing weeklies as i started a new town in wild world. the project ultimately feel through for a variety of reasons, but i thought i’d share a few pieces i did finish as a change of pace :-]

had a stressful day at work but then i realized i just got a nintendo ds in the mail :’) going to live out my 4th grade dreams goodbye

what still fucks me up is that there’s still no Bastille song that’s completely happy. Sure, Admit Defeat and Club 57 are upbeat and about love, but there’s still a tinge of sadness to them, as if the narrator has doubts about an actual relationship forming. The Silence and Flaws are self deprecating and upbeat, but there’s nothing that explicitly suggests that the narrator is speaking to a love interest, it could just be platonic. And don’t get me started on all of the songs about relationships falling apart or the lover beinf unobtainable. There’s something that’s so melancholic about Bastille’s music- even in the happiest of songs, there’s still a nagging doubt or a sad musical note that doesn’t let the listener be in a complete state of romantic euphoria. It’s tragically and beautifully depressing
