William Regal Says He’s “Proud” of Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Becky Lynch
William Regal was interviewed for Metro.UK. He was asked if there was anyone he was particularly proud of. He answered with Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Becky Lynch. You can read his answer below:
“I don’t really like singling anyone out, but Sasha Banks. I’ve known her since she was 18, and the previous people that were doing what I’m doing now wouldn’t even give her the time of day.
When I was asked by Triple H to be part of that team, of which there is nobody still here who was in the team at the time, I kept asking to bring her in, to which people replied ‘oh no, there is nothing in her, she’s useless.’ Sasha was the first person I went to bat for, and her development is a great thing to see.
Bayley in a way also because I had the idea for the character but I didn’t have anyone to fill the role. I saw there was an open market because everything was pushed towards young boys, but we had nothing for young girls. That was a role that could be filled, and finding Bayley helped.
That was one of the first tryouts we did in LA. Seeing her and going ‘she’s the perfect person for that role’. It’s not an act with her, it’s real. We just had to make it right. She created the character along with Dusty Rhodes, but I had the idea for her.
I always told her to be herself, and sell the way she looked, and that was the role.
Becky Lynch too, she’s just magic. She came to the trial we did in Birmingham years ago, and she hadn’t been in the ring for a long time.
Robby Brookside got in touch with me and said she was interested in coming back, so I told her to come to the tryout. Within five minutes we knew she was magic.
With those three it made me realize not to second guess myself sometimes. For whatever reason, more often than not, I can spot something in someone”
As if I needed anymore reason to love William Regal. I’m so glad he fought for Sasha and just look at her now! She’s only 25 and already a multi-time women’s champion, one of the biggest merch sellers for the women and a legit main eventer. I also love his believing in Bayley and Becky as well.
Also, laughing at him throwing shade over the past talent scounts. Yeah, there’s a reason they’re not there anymore.
So they won’t bring up the fact that Kingston legit was about to burn Jericho and Bryan? I kinda expected this shit to make the tension in the group worse. Like, imo sacrificing your teammate for your revenge is a bit fucked up.
I thought maybe Mox would take Eddie’s side but still call him out, something like “as your best friend I gotta tell you when you’re going too far”. Or maybe Regal would get angry on behalf of his favourite son perfect wrestler-protégé.
Because I feel like the whole storyline will come to making Moxley pick a side, and now would be a good moment to emphasize that.
Anyway, maybe they’re gonna do this later when Bryan recovers and comes back, because I hope he won’t let this shit slide.
