And finally! The famous view of the bridge! Sadly I was hoping for the golden hour light… turns out the sun goes down on the opposite side so morning light would be better. But I am still happy with how this came out :D <3 #Saxony #Bastie
I think the sky was totally on my side! It was a rainy cloudy, gross, mess on our drive here. I was so worried we wouldnt end up hiking. But probably about 10 minutes out, the sky cleared, and the sun came out, and this happened :D <3 #Saxony #Bastie
Yep… still more photos from Bastie… and there will be more. But just look how magical it is there! I highly recommend this hike to anyone remotely in the area. #Saxony #Bastie
The “Devils Bridge” in Azalea and Rhododendron Park Kromlau was incredible. It is too bad you arent allowed to walk across it anymore, but I do understand why. It would be ruined rather quickly with all the wear and tear. But its a very cool treat to go see. The pond seems like it almost never gets disrupted, it stays so smooth for perfect reflections!
I have been wanting to visit this bridge for years! After we moved to Germany I looked it up and realized it was only about 4 hours away. So I finally planned a road trip to go up into Saxony and do some exploring around, and of course the Azalea and Rhododendron Park Kromlau made the top of the list!
This hike was hard! Poor Balto was doing everything he could to lie down on the way back because he was so tired. The bugs were being jerks, the sun was hot, and we got caught in a baby thunderstorm—but the view was worth it! Also, look at all that bear grass!
Days 19-21 Olympic National Park – Park #7! Homeland of the Quinault and the Hoh
Reaching the Olympic Peninsula meant taking our first ferry ride. We hopped on the ferry as the sun was setting over Seattle and arrived at the gates of Olympic National Park in the wee hours. With the guidance of yet another trusty park ranger we enjoyed overnight trips hiking in both the Hoh Rainforest and alongside the Pacific Coast. The beauty we observed here makes this park one of our absolute favorites. Read more about out adventures on the STS blog! #linkinbio
