This process is called autorotation. The helicopter “drives” the main rotor thanks to its free fall. The downside is that the cabin spins around its axis, because the rear rotor does not work … But, in the absence of drive, the helicopter goes to the ground relatively safely.

Privileged to be able to say I was there at possibly the most spectacular fireworks display ever. Literally, in fact. Dubai let loose more than a phenomenal 500,000 fireworks in 6 minutes this year Over the Palm and the World. Stealing the world record for the most amount of fireworks released in one place at one time, we massively outshone the previous record holders Kuwait who managed circa 77,000. Well, let’s be honest here a moment… It’s Dubai, they’ve never done things by half and I highly doubt they plan to start now!

The Aérotrain service was to have linked Paris with the town of Pointoise, 25 miles away.
