The 30 Day Russian Challenge starts tomorrow, July 1! The goal is to practise Russian every day for 30 days and get a 30-day streak on Duolingo. At the end, send us a screenshot, tag @russiangrammar or include the hashtag #30 Day Russian Challenge and we can include your name in our 30-Day Russian Challenge Roll of Honour! (We are open to suggestions…)

Стыдиться [поступка, предмета] e.g. я стыжусь, что нагрубил родителям - feel bad for being rude to my parents; я стыжусь своего тела - feel insecure about my body
Краснеть от стыда - blush with shame (turn red)
Сгорать от стыда- burn with shame (is there such an expression in english?) anyways! means that you feel SO ASHAMED you want to die. You can also say “мне было так стыдно, что я хотел(а) провалиться под землю”
Стыд и позор! / Стыд и срам! - shame shame shame!
2. For those who have no shame whatsoever:
Бесстыдник- the one who has no shame
У него / нее нет стыда - he / she has no shame
Совсем стыд потерял(а)!-literally ‘lost his shame’ did something outrageous (mostly used by older people to younger people i would say..? or by younger in a mocking way)
Ни стыда ни совести - no shame (100% only used by babushkas)
Мне нечего стыдиться - I don’t have anything to be ashamed of
I will try to think of other examples too and update it later (shouldn’t be too hard lol)
I drew these a while ago (as you can see by the year…), but I don’t think they ever made it to Tumblr. Felt like riffing on traditional Russian costumes (think my thought process was like “whoa the Little Big tracksuit kokoshnik is amazing but what if it…said ‘fuck’ on it…holy shit…”). Nota bene: They are gfs.
