Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,
This post has been created to provide information on the background of the author and the purpose of “aqlamoon”.
By the Grace and Permission of Allaah subhaanahu wa ta’aala, I strive to practice Islaam as it was revealed in accordance to the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf us-Saalih (Pious Predecessors). I accepted Salafiyyah in Rabbee ath-Thaanee 1436 (corresponding to February 2015) after listening to a lecture titled “Hadhihi Da’watunaa/This is Our Call” by Imaam Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah). The original audio, translation and transcription can be found here.
By profession I am a student and academic researcher in Neuroscience. That being said, I am not a student of [Islaamic] knowledge, I am merely a laywoman seeking authentic knowledge from authentic sources. In the West I take from Maktabah as-Salafiyyah (Salafi Publications).
I attend duroos and also use online classes (free online classes have been compiled in a list here). If you would like to know the specific books or Sharh I am using then please do message me.
I mainly focus on Aqeedah and Tawheed; the basics. May Allaah grant us sincerity in our actions, aameen.
On “aqlamoon” I aim to provide primary resources wherever possible e.g. printables, study aids etc. As well as bringing attention to existing authentic resources that have helped me greatly, as a beginner. All resources I post will be/are free and if not (such as book recommendations), a free alternative will be mentioned alongside where possible i.e. a book recommendation will be accompanied with a free lecture on the specific topic.
For those of you visiting this page I ask you not to be shy in advising me, I am a beginner. Please, do remember all of the Children of Adam err and should I make mistakes or reference poorly then these will be corrected in the first instance. May Allaah forgive us.
Wasalaam.
The slave of Allaah,

Authentic literature, translated into English, can be purchased at the following sites:
Ustaadh Abul-Abbaas Moosa Richardson in Class 1 of Masaaʾil al-Jaahiliyyah (Aspects from the Days of Ignorance) briefly mentions the impermissibility of downloading PDF copies of books that are meant to be purchased [10:43m-11:15m]:
“…Do not allow yourself to download free versions of books, which is a violation of copyright laws.” [Statement taken 11:08m-11:15m].
This happens all too often with the illegal downloading and uploading of material.
If we do not have the means to legally purchase a book, other halaal measures can be taken, such as checking the libraries in local masaajid/maraakiz, asking a friend if we can have a look at their copy or even looking for a cheaper alternative of the book i.e abridged versions or used copies.
May Allaah forgive us and make it easy for us all.
