I THINK my first fic posted here was Long Way Home ,which is still one of my favourite Sammy fics, but I could be wrong about that! It’s only got 52 notes (some of which are mine). 41 likes, 8 reblogs (3 are mine) and 3 comments (1 of mine). So I suppose I have to say both @like-a-bag-of-potatoesand@winchesterprincessbride who both commented ‘This is beautiful’.
There are far better writers here, and far more prolific ones, but I have a loyal bunch of people who are the people I keep in mind when I write. so, seeing as you are one of them @princessmisery666, thank you for the last 3 years, you are a legend.

for the girl/guy/human feeling sad that they are alone this holiday season-don’t. I was alone for so many holidays until I met my lovely girlfriend on tumblr (which still blows my mind) almost two years ago. so this is me on my soapbox saying keep your minds and hearts open, your significant other could be following you right now ;)
The best decision I ever made was to message the cute curly haired girl I was following for 4 months. An awkward first meeting turned into almost two years of memories I wouldn’t trade for gold. Thank you for everything, I love you baby ❤️
A few weeks have passed since you got back and lord knows you still haven’t unpacked. You messaged Chanyeol when you got home to let him know that the flight went well. You two kept a small conversation going but you weren’t sure how much more your heart could handle.
You had been offered a role as a side character in a show because the company from Korea had sent a preliminary copy of the stuff you guys had filmed at the end of your mentoring session to your company. They were able to find you some work, it wasn’t a constant appearance but it was work, so you took the offer.
You had today off so you decided it was the perfect opportunity to actually get to unpacking. You started and your phone went off.
You pick it up to see that it’s Chanyeol and he is requesting a video chat. You nearly threw the phone across the room, but quickly calmed down and answered.
“Hey” you say, not sure entirely what else to say.
He looked a little sad.
“Oh my god, is everything okay?? Isn’t it late there?” He just looked at you.
There was silence and you were concerned the video froze, but then he sniffed and you knew it wasn’t.
“Park Chanyeol, talk to me. What’s going on?” Your concern must have been very evident because he looked right at the camera.
“I just… I just miss you.” He looked at the desk immediately after the words left his mouth and your heart broke.
You wanted nothing more than to reach out and fluff his hair and tell him it’s okay, but you had to settle for over the video reassurance.
“Yeolie,” you see him tense slightly when you call him by his nickname. “Hey, look at me… I miss you too. We both knew I had to go back at some point though.” You try to keep your voice steady, but he still hasn’t looked up and it’s hard because you really miss him too.
“We can still talk on here. I know it’s not the same, but at least it’s something. We have Kakao too.”
He gives a small nod.
“So talk to me then silly. What have you been up to? How’s the ever-so-glamorous lifestyle of an idol been?” That got him to smile and giggle a bit.
You two talk for a couple hours before you clue into the fact that it has to be nearly 4am in Korea and convince him for another 15 minutes to get off the phone before finally disconnecting.
“My god that boy” you shake your head and laugh as you return to your unpacking.
The next few months consist of about the same thing, some nights it’s you staying up until the wee hours, some nights it’s him you have to convince to get some sleep. You knew EXO were prepairing a comeback, or at least, that’s what word on the street was. Chanyeol refused to tell you, but you knew something was up because some nights he looked far more worn out then normal.
Tonight was no different.
“Yeolie, you okay?” You laugh when he picks up the call.
“Hey Y/N!!” The enthusiasm was high and his grin was huge, but you could see he was tired. “Great actually! I can finally confirm your suspicions too!”
“Oh? Do tell.” You laugh at his puppy like excitement.
“We are totally working on a comeback! They actually just put the artical out before you called!” Despite being tired his excitement was the most adorable thing you’d seen, so you couldn’t help but be enamored by it.
“I figured, you aren’t exactly James Bond when it comes to these things” you laugh as he swats at the screen.
“So what’s new with you?” He asks after settling down a bit.
“Well, I was going to wait until things were finalized a bit more to tell you…”
“Tell me, tell me!!”
“I am planning a trip out there for work next month, I just need to finalize some things with the company before I can say for sure when.” You see him perk up and can’t help but smile. “It’ll only be for a couple months, and that’s IF I get the part. They say there’s a pretty good chance and that the audition is mostly formality, but still. Anything can happen.” You try to sound nonchalant about it, but you were brimming with happiness at the thought of being back in Korea.
“So you’ll be here?! That’s awesome!! You have to come to a show!!” Chanyeol clapped his hands. “We have a few schedules already lined up, so as soon as you know dates and how busy you’ll be let me know, I’ll try and pull some strings” he winked.
“Aww you don’t have to do that.” But you were glad he protested because you knew getting tickets to a show would be like pulling teeth.
You talk for a while and once the excitement died down you could see the exhaustion seeping through Chanyeol. He was laying on his bed by this point and you could see he was hardly staying awake.
During a story you were telling he went oddly quiet so you stopped for a second. “Yeolie?” Silence.
“Goodnight you silly bean. I hope you sleep well” you hear him mumble something and you chuckle while disconnecting the call.
