Black Botanicals: The Root of Caribbean Medicine’ invites you to embark on a reflection within these themes of horticultural innovation, embodiment and connection.

The exhibition draws on the impact of colonial expeditions and the natural resources attributed to indigenous knowledge. It considers the influence of illness in the production of botanical medicine, seated in the Caribbean shores from the eighteenth century to present day.

You’ll be presented with botanical archives from Bristol Museum and The New York Botanical Garden displayed alongside the work of Ellen Walker (PhD Communication) and William Farr (MA Sculpture).

The exhibition is compiled within these sections Dissolved Bodies, Folk Medicine: A Source of Healing and Colonial Ties.

The exhibition is curated by Jade Lindo, Wiktoria Kijowska, Sophie Seeyave and Lucy Roche.
