One of the early movies I watched when I was a teenager and discovering anime was Project A-ko. Because of this, I’m really nostalgic about it and love the songs from it - I think they’re great songs that capture the essence of the film, the spirit of late 1980s pop and yet still manage to be timeless thanks to their upbeat nature.

Whilst you can hear the songs in the movie itself and find them on YouTube, it’s hard to find the music as originally released. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this Project A-ko Original Songbook CD on eBay and just had to snap it up! It’s not quite the same as the soundtrack, as it features tracks that weren’t in the movie, but the best songs are on there (Dance Away, Follow Your Dream and In Your Eyes) and in their best quality.

Considering this CD was released all the way back in Japan in 1988, I’m absolutely chuffed to own an original piece of something that’s so nostalgic to me and to be able to enjoy the music in it’s highest quality.

If you don’t know of or about Project A-ko, it’s basically a parody of anime that were popular in the 1980s. It’s pretty bizarre and if you’re only used to watching more modern anime, the style might take some getting used to but I’d definitely recommend checking it out so that you get a fix of anime history!
