When was the last time you’ve seen a shounen heroine shut down her (romantic) feelings for the protagonist to make sure she achieved the goals she set for herself.

I mean for herself. Ochako wants to get stronger for herself. She wants to be a hero for her parents.  She wants to get stronger for her parents. 

Izuku inspires her. He motivates her to be better than she is now.

She isn’t doing it to protect him or to fight for him. He’s important to her, but he isn’t the decisive factor in her progress. He isn’t the reason.

Ochako Uraraka is going to get stronger because she wants to. She wants to be a hero, and the only way for her to stand equal to the best of the crop is to get better.

The girl has goals, and she is going to meet them.
