stoner characters are my absolute idols. always got a cool van. so chill. saying duuuude all the time. being absolutely blown away by the small joys in life because they’re high as fuck. supportive and lovable.
So, I just finished vol. 1 of season 4 and I really, really enjoyed it. Out of all the seasons, this one is probably my second favorite behind season 2. Despite the longer runtime, I never felt like the episodes were dragging. There were lots of twists I didn’t see coming and I was surprised by them. The new characters were a lot of fun, particularly Eddie, Vecna, and Argyle.
My favorite storyline was definitely the Hawkins one. The Creel house was really cool and I always enjoy hanging out with Steve, Lucas, Max, and Dustin. Nancy was surprisingly one of my faves this season. I wasn’t a big fan of her in season 3 but this season was a shining moment for her imo. Robin was also pretty cool and I really enjoyed her team-up with Nancy.
The Russia storyline was also very compelling. Hopper’s struggle was really heartbreaking, especially when he told Antonov about his past. He and Hopper were a great duo btw. The final battle with the demogorgon was like something out of a horror film and I loved it. Joyce and Murray were also a great team.
Eleven’s story, while dragging sometimes, didn’t always go in the direction I thought and I was pleasantly surprised. I really wanted to give her a hug though. Poor girl has been through a lot. Still, it was interesting to see how she came to be as strong as she was.
And, I’m sorry to say, I wasn’t a big fan of Mike, Will, and Jonathan’s story. Granted, their interaction with Suzie was great, but I feel like the writers don’t always know what to do with them. They’re also not the most interesting characters to me. However, I really did appreciate Mike and Will’s heart to heart. It was needed. And Argyle is freaking hilarious. Anytime he was on screen, I had a blast.
Ok, spoiler time!
The reveal of Vecna’s true identity I thought was a neat twist that perfectly tied Eleven’s story and the Hawkins story together. Vecna is no doubt my favorite villain in the show. Him being 001 makes sense as he is immensely powerful and is vengeful due to the pain of his past. I also loved his Freddy Krueger vibe. Just like in the movie, he attacks in a dream-like state. I wonder what’ll happen to him in vol. 2. Eleven will no doubt put in an end to him. I also wonder how he connects to the Mind Flayer.
Now, I love Steve. He’s my favorite but are they setting up another romance with Nancy? I kinda hope not because part of his story was learning to let her go. I hope they just stay friends but that doesn’t look like where the story is going. Also, he doesn’t give himself enough credit imo. Steve is very, very clueless about… everything. I hope he realizes that he is worth more than just being a babysitter and fighter. Although, I always love how he puts others before himself when danger strikes.
I really don’t know how this season will end, but I am looking forward to it. We’ll see what happens July 1. I hope y’all enjoyed the season as well!
did any one wonder what will happen to argyle after vol2? like if the byers move back to hawkins where will argyle go, back to cali or will the duffer bros kill him in vol 2?
What I don’t understand is… If the the gang supposedly reunites for the finale, then why didn’t Jonathan get to meet Eddie???? Since Steve, Erica Lucas, Max, Nancy, Robin, Dustin and Eddie are all together in Hawkins
I actually believe that the only reason as to why Noah and Finn haven’t done any press together even though they are both on team California is because if someone asked them a Byler question they would just look at eachother and start giggling uncontrollably
