Siege Perilous

The perilous seat. The Siege Perilous is so strictly reserved that it is fatal to anyone else who sits in it and all those who sat before it have perished. Reserved for those with strong ties to the Otherworld and the cauldron of rebirth, chosen by Ceridwen herself. They must be born pure of heart and gallant

They say children have a stronger tie to the paranormal and their minds and hearts so pure that they can see and communicate with spirits because they have not yet formed the bias that adults carry that such things are nonsense and illogical. Quick trivia – anything that the dead interacted with in the movie “The Six Sense” were often red and there’s a very good reason why Galahad is often painted wearing red in her child version.

I saw you guys liked the last Ceridwen and Galahad picture! I’ll give you a little more information regarding this version of Galahad who’s one of the characters I have in a story I’ve been working for eons.

Name: Questing Beast, Beast Glatisant (Barking Beast)
Area of Origin: Britain, Arthurian Legends

The Questing Beast is the subject of numerous quests undertaken by such famous knights as King Arthur, King Pellinore, Sir Palamedes and Sir Percival. Out of these figures, Pellinore was the one known to have endlessly hunted the thing. The beast has the body of a leopard, the back end of a lion, the feet of a hart or deer, and lastly, the head and neck of a snake. Its name comes from the noise it emits, a barking likened to many hounds questing. The term ‘Glatisant’ is derived from the french word glapissant, meaning ‘yelp’ or 'bark’. The creature is a variant on the mythological medieval view of the Giraffe. It is revealed by the great wizard Merlin that the beast was born of a human woman, a princess who had lusted after her own brother. After sleeping with a devil with promises of her brother’s love, the devil manipulated her into accusing her brother of rape. The siblings’ father had the brother torn apart by dogs as punishment, but shortly before the brother’s death, he prophesied that his sister would give birth to an abomination that would make the same sounds as the dogs that were to kill him. The Questing Beast appears to King Arthur in Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d'Arthur after he has an affair with his sister Morgause, though the two were unaware of their familial relation when the act occurred. The act resulted in the illegitimate birth of his son Mordred. Arthur sees the beast after waking from a disturbing dream that foretells Mordred’s destruction of the realm. The Questing Beast has been solidified as a symbol of the incest, chaos and violence that ultimately destroys Arthur’s kingdom.

Mordred is the illegitimate son of King Arthur and his half sister, Queen Morgan le Fay (Or Morgause). When Arthur learns that he has had a child by his half-sister, he attempts to kill Mordred by condemning all the children born on May Day to be set adrift on the sea. But his son survives when the ship he is in breaks up and he is cast up on the shore and found by a good man, who raises him until he is fourteen. Even before Mordred accuses Lancelot and Guinevere of their treasonous affair and plans to trap them, his villainy is clear. When Gawain and his brothers treacherously attack and slay Lamorak, it is Mordred who gives him a fatal wound in the back. While Arthur is besieging Lancelot’s castle in France, Mordred forges letters saying that Arthur is dead, claims the throne, and intends to marry Guinevere. In the final battle at Camlann, Arthur gives Mordred a fatal wound; but Mordred thrusts himself up the length of Arthur’s spear so he can strike his father, commiting the ultimate crime of regicide.

Hello,

I miss you all Arthurian people. So after deserting Tumblr (for no apparent reason that I can think off other than laziness), I am tentatively making my way back here.
