HOW DO YOU EVEN POST A 20 PANELS COMIC ON TUMBLR, SERIOUSLY. My answer is probably: don’t make one in the first place. I’m sorry if it makes your dashboard explode.

This is my @captiveprince–ss gift for Allie @thecaptiveroyals. It was supposed to be for the prompts ‘emotional healing’ and ‘ghosts’, but it ended up lacking in the ghosts department. I hope you like it anyway.

Thanks a lot to kuroosthighz for all the help!

INT. AUGUSTE’S TOMB - ARLES - EARLY MORNING
Cool moonlight streams through stained glass windows into the dark cavenous chamber. On a raised dais, suspended above a sea of candles, lays Auguste. His pale hands are clasped together against his chest, adorned in blue and gold to befit his title. A circlet crowns him in death.

Laurent (13) is slumped over Auguste’s stomach, his gold hair toussled when he looks up at Auguste’s face. Laurent’s eyes are half-lidded and red, he’s been like this for hours refusing to leave his brother’s side.

LAURENT
(exhausted)
I will watch over you…
(struggles to keep his eyes open)
I promise.

Slowly, he sinks to his knees. Laurent buries his head into the circle of his arms, mouth slack he wavers into sleep. Soon after, footsteps resound in the chamber. Some slaves and the regent’s men disperse around the room to pack up the remaining remnants of the vigil.

A man steps up to the dais, dressed in dark robes and a medallion of state. We don’t see his face as he gathers a sleeping Laurent into his arms and carries him away from Auguste.

akielonlion:

What are your headcanons on Auguste & Laurent’s height?

I kind of like the idea that they’re deceivingly the same height, but Laurent is so much thinner noone notices that. And of course, noone saw them standing side by side as adults. Like Laurent always considered Auguste tall because he was a lot taller than a child Laurent, when in reality Laurent grew to be about the same but finds comparison with Damen since Damen still towers over him as an adult.

This is really interesting! 100% agree with Laurent always seeing Auguste as larger-than-life, even if he ends up being the same height/around the same height as an adult. I do wonder, though, whether Laurent’s traumas affected his development (i.e., epigenetics) – not by much, but perhaps he ends up a little shorter than he might have otherwise. Regardless, I love the idea of Laurent always seeing Auguste as this utterly unattainable figure that he’s built up in his mind over the years.

If someone waved a piece of fabric at Damen during a tourney, the only reasonable response was for him to grab it, use it to wipe the sweat and oil from his face, and discard it.
Of course, sometimes Damen forgot he was dealing with a confounding, convoluted people who lacked even a modicum of common sense.

A stone slid under his heel. Laurent turned. For a moment, Laurent looked at him wide-eyed, young, and then the look in his eyes changed, as though the universe had fulfilled an ineluctable promise. ‘Oh,’ he said, ‘perfect.’

Look, I’m not saying that for a split second Laurent thought it was Auguste, but I am 100% saying he thought it was Auguste. The fact that it’s at Marlas compounds the pain a million fold.

Part three of the continuing saga chronicling my descent into Captive Prince hell.

thinking about how, if damen hadn’t done it at marlas, the regent would have killed auguste like he killed aleron. and not only that…. he would probably have used laurent against him.

1. before marlas, there were three men in between the regent and the throne. at marlas, the regent successfully plotted to take out the king, and it just so happened that auguste died in battle, but either way the plans were already in motion and the regent would have had to systematically kill auguste and laurent to become king

2. the regent knew that laurent and auguste were close. there is no way that he would have ignored the very useful fact that the two people in between him and the throne were also each other’s greatest weakness (auguste would do anything to protect laurent. what would he do if someone put laurent in danger? probably something that could get himself killed)

3. the regent DID use auguste against laurent in canon, even after auguste died. he twisted the narrative about their relationship, compared laurent to auguste to weaken his reputation, and used laurent’s grief and his anger against damen to provoke him into making mistakes

so yeah, I am 100% sure that the regent would have used laurent against auguste to kill him if auguste had survived marlas

Bro attaching your tags bc I’ve never thought of Laurent almost using this alternate reality as a way to make peace with Auguste’s death

I don’t like to post unfinished works but as I was sketching all I could think was “Auguste simps on tumblr should really see this rn”

“Does Mother know?” Laurent asks, wondrous.

“No.” Says Auguste. “Only I know, and now you. And you mustn’t tell a single soul. Can you promise me that?”

I also think a lot about how Berenger and Auguste were probably good friends.

And picture all these adventures in hoeing that Auguste dragged his straight laced friend around on. I know ive talked about Jord sitting in full livery in the brothel, but also please imagine Berenger’s straight backed, ace ass sitting in his boring brown jackets while he waits for Auguste as well.

For this years @capri-bigbang2k18 I had the honor to work with @shipssetsail and illustrate for their fic “Istana Mantra”.

It’s an amazing Harry Potter AU so please check it out!

(summary under the cut)

Whats a fantasy world without a little magic?
Hidden inside the southern mountains almost where the four nations meet lies a school. Istana Mantra has been standing and teaching wizards longer than the history of the modern nations. Those blessed with the gift of magic are the only ones who know of its existence. But magic runs deep in almost all royal bloodlines and at times can skip generations.
Three beloved Princes for two warring nations find themselves being forced to attend a school in which to learn magic and control their magical energy. But what happens when outside forces once thought to be lost to history start affecting the boys, how will they overcome the challenges that they face in this new place of learning?

auguste would sneak little laurent sweets underneath the dinner table. he has definitely bribed a poor cook from the kitchens into making a fresh batch of laurent’s favorite pastries and sweets bc a) he loves laurent and b) laurent is terrifying when his sugar is low.
