Prince’s Gambit was by far my favorite out of the Captive Prince Trilogy. Golden Age vibes, Commander x Second-in-command, UST, it truly had it all to make me fall. This was one of the scenes that had me actually trembling while I was reading.

Calendars have come in and gone out! Calendars were shipped out via USPS on Thursday Dec 17 :)

While the initial plan was to get tracking numbers, that would have more than doubled the shipping costs and with an already very tight budget, I ended up deciding against it. The good news is- this means the calendars will actually arrive sooner! The bad news is- I’m not sure when.

With Covid, Holiday Shipping, and various post office shenanigans, I ask that you please be patient and keep an eye out. If you have not received your calendar by the end of January 2021, please get in touch about getting a refund or a replacement. If there are any extras left after that point, they will be available for sale.

France’s Golden Brothers Bring Home the Gold

…The season’s been turbulent for the two brothers, especially after a leak of the court documents regarding the case of former star coach, now convicted sex offender Laurent de Vere senior, revealing Laurent the younger as a key witness and victim of the coach (who also happens do be de Veres uncle). After the leakage both brothers retreated from the public eye, and many fans considered them as good as out of the season for good.

It came therefore as a pleasant surprise when the de Veres, through their manager, announced their intent to claim their hard earned place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Even better was it when the brothers kept winning, soaring all the way up to the finale last night and against none other than Laurent’s fiance - the Greek star player Damianos Vasiliou. It’s safe to say that the boys have earned their win even if the final match was a tight one, and we congratulate them and wish them the best on the way back to Europe…

Being at sea is boring. Beautiful as it is, the novelty of open seas as far as the eye can see will eventually wear off and soon will also the wonder of whale sightings.

Given a course agreeable with the wind, L’Enfantdemands little of her men and will go steady for hours, if not days with only minor adjustments. That leaves little to do off duty. 

There’s sleeping of course, and truth be told many aboard spend almost as much time sleeping as they are awake. Sadly, humans aren’t cats and one can only spend so many hours of the day uncounscious before the mind demands stimulation. For that there’s gambling, but at some point there’ll always be one lucky bastard winning everything of value and then calling it quits - efficiently putting an end to the fun. On any other ship you might then go on to drown your losses and the boredom in rum, but Captain Laurent is notoriously tight with the liquor rations and Orlant only happy to follow his orders and keeping the good stuff exclusively for the galley crew.

So that leaves talk. Shit talk to be more precise, because talking about your past and future quickly gets boring, not to mention depressing. Loose talk is easier. Gossip like who’s fucking who right now, who hasfucked who, and who someone would liketo fuck.

The captain always comes up in these discussions, with a face like that it’s unavoidable. Unfortunately it’s also an accepted fact that the captain remains an unobtainable wet dream, although there is disagreement as to why.

Some say he’s just a frigid, stone cold bitch whose cock probably doesn’t even work. Other say that he has a sweetheart on shore, a pretty red-haired little thing waiting for him at a brothel in Fortaine. They swear on their lives that they’ve seen it with their own eyes and will not back off despite their peer’s ridicule.

Trick or treat

Damen’s not sure how long he’s waiting, five minutes at least. He uses the time to look around. There’s a small closet full of clothes, but when he pokes his head in the kitchen he finds it nearly bare. He glances nervously at the door to the bathroom and sits back on the couch, rubbing his palms over his thighs nervously. He takes his coat off, and folds it over the arm of the couch.

Laurent comes back out wearing only a robe. A very short, silk robe.
