The aftermath of Hans and Schmitt’s encounter with the mysterious man, as seen in this deluxe version of the shot from page 7 of AvaniaNo.5.
Due to the large number of smaller panels in the pages before and after this, this will wrap up the chapter as far as the “deluxe” stand-alone pictures will go, but I am still proud of the art in those scenes, so check out the comic itself if you haven’t already!

After confronting this treacherous foe, Schmitt rallies for another attempt at subduing him in this deluxe panel from Avania No.5, page 5. Careful, Schmitt–You might be underestimating who you’re dealing with!

Lieutenant Schmitt finds the tables suddenly turned on him as the suspicious stranger proves he possesses more than just a pretty face!
This is one of my favorite shots from @avaniacomic chapter 10, which is fortunate because it’s one of the few wide shots in the chapter I can make a deluxe version of, due to the action of the scene leaving less room for fancy backgrounds.

On the tail of a mysterious man, Lieutenant Schmitt runs into opposition in an unexpected form…
This scene is a deluxe version of the credits page from Issue No.5, and though it is already a large splash page, I really liked how the night lighting and dark shading turned out. I think it makes the momentary standoff quite dramatic!

Now that I’ve spent some time figuring out Space!Viktoria’s suit design, what about her crew? In this hypothetical space AU, I imagine she’s a privateer instead of a navy pilot, and may enlist the help of her different species counterparts to help her on missions!
This being sort of a joke in that Chasse is fairly obviously intended to be a Rozenich version of Viktoria, and though visually more differentiated, Cattiveria was also intended as an Ambivian version of Viktoria… So she’s kind of teaming up with herself here…
The combination is actually rather amusing though since each variation has a bit different personality and come from much different cultures, so their differences stand out in contrast with one another.
Thanks to @alfafilly for designing both Cattiveria and Chasse (she drew the bases for those two here as well).

So as I’ve been indulging in space raptors lately, I’ve also been considering how Chasse (and by extension, the rest of @alfafilly’s rozenich setting) would interact with the rest of my cast… Except rather that simply having crossover with the regular Avania setting, why not make an expansive new AU that offers some additional storytelling possibilities?
Combine this with the designs I made for a space version of Una and Charlotte, including a space-faring version of their lancer airship, and you can see where I’m headed with this, which brings me to Viktoria!These are just some design sketches I did a little while back, but I’m already having a lot of fun channeling the look of vintage anime space suits…

Prepare yourselves… For a wallpaper version of AvaniaNo.6’s back inside cover illustration, featuring Captains Fontania Eraclare and Alders Wight.
As you might imagine from their detailed uniforms, I spent a while finishing this pic. I am pretty happy with how it turned out though, and both of them sorely needed some updated artwork for their character bios!
