do you ever think about sokka having to deal with two 12 year olds and his little sister. like imagine you’re 15 and your only social interactions are kids younger than you and more powerful and these kids constantly make fun of you in a joking matter but deep down you start to kinda find that their jokes actually hurt you. i’d be a little a little annoyed all the time too. i’m not saying he didn’t love them because he did but he was probably a little relieved when zuko and suki joined them because he finally had people his own age to hang out it with

How the hell do Appa’s reins work?

I have this headcanon that Toph has a tougher time fighting other benders. With earthbenders it’s easier, she can sense where pillars of stone and walls are, but it’s the flying bits she has to listen for and judge the person’s stance to tell where it’s going.

Obviously, she’d have the hardest time with an airbender–its air. It has no vibration she can sense and Aang is so light footed she has tough keeping track of him, so she has to listen and feel the minute changes in the air.

Waterbending and firebending–when taking water from a standing pool, Toph could feel the vibrations in the ripples against the shore, but water makes a streaming sound that’s very distinct and easier to track. Ice spikes would be harder to listen for, lacking this sound. Firebending is the same, it makes a whooshing sound and it roars but it can move so quick when wielded right that Toph only has a split second to erect her defense.

And that Toph can do all these things, listen and feel, in what seems like mere SECONDS is astounding to me. I love Toph so much.

The Dragon Bird Korra Befriends is Neither a Phoenix nor a Dragon.

It is , as it’s name says, a combination of both.

Can I have one?

As I pointed out in the pictures, the Dragon Bird has features of both Dragon and Phoenix.

Dragons have:

The horns of a deer.

The head of a crocodile.

A demon’s eyes.

The neck of a snake.

hawk’s claws.

The palms of a tiger.

A cow’s ears.

A Phoenix has

Historically:

the beak of a rooster,

the face of a swallow,

the forehead of a fowl,

the neck of a snake,

the breast of a goose,

the back of a tortoise,

the hindquarters of a stag and the tail of a fish.

Or

Today:

the head of a golden pheasant,

the body of a mandarin duck,

the tail of a peacock,

the legs of a crane,

the mouth of a parrot,

and the wings of a swallow.

Okay, so this started as an off-handed omg lol, but the more I think about it, the more plausible it becomes.

Did you seriously go there, Bryke?

Small things that irk Jin

Don’t get me wrong, I thought the episodes are stunningly animated and I enjoyed the story, but …

The genderswap of Vaatu and Raava annoyed me throughout the episode.

Yin-Yang

Yin is characterized as slow, soft, yielding, diffuse, cold, wet, and passive; and is associated with water, earth, the moon, femininity and nighttime.

Yang, by contrast, is fast, hard, solid, focused, hot, dry, and aggressive; and is associated with fire, sky, the sun, masculinity and daytime.

They played it very straight up Yin-Yang with those two spirits i.e. light and dark who are part of a whole and cannot exist without the other. They even flat-out show a Yin-Yang symbol at the end of the episode. Which made the switched voices even more grating to me.

I do not see any narrative point that was made by doing so, all it’s doing is bending a Taoist idea to what a western audience expects. I do not like the part where shadows=evil for exactly the same reason.

If they belonged to Vaatu, then why are they attacking Korra as she tries to open the Spirit Portal. Isn’t that what Vaatu wants? Has he even been freed yet?
