im the robot

Again, this is even funnier if you know what a fucking production nightmare, witha possible curse attached to it no less, this robot prop was for the Doctor Who crew…

I want to know about the cursed robot

So the robot isn’t a guy in a suit, it’s an animatronic/puppet thing, and it wasn’t built for the show. In fact, no one knows who built it, one of the producers just FOUND IT ONE DAY in a building near the studio. It had apparently been built for another production that was cancelled and then just left to gather dust. So they thought “oh cool, let’s make this dumb robot the Doctor’s new companion, it’ll look neat and weird, everyone will have a gas with it.” NOPE.

Kamelion was incredibly complicated to operate, so they assigned a guy named Mike Powers to figure out the best way to go about it. Apparently he did a great job streamlining Kamelion’s operation, and then he promptly died in a boating accident (which is where the “curse” idea comes from.) He didn’t leave any notes or instructions, and the show was already behind schedule, so they had to rush Kamelion’s scenes into production with no idea how it worked. It was a gigantic pain in the ass to use, took forever to set up, and needed constant upkeep and repairs. Everyone hated working with the prop, to the point that before Kamelion’s first episode even aired, they had already decided to kill him off later in the same season.

Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor, had the most scenes with Kamelion, and absolutely hated it. When Kamelion dies, the Doctor is really sad, but Davison said later that it was one of the best acting jobs of his career, because in reality, he was absolutely giddy with joy at being rid of the thing.

tl,dr: In the 80′s a Mystery robot prop built by unknown hands caused chaos on the Doctor Who set.

Thanks, Ray.

honestly that real life story is more like Doctor Who than Moffat’s entire run on the show

Shots fired.

You might be wondering just who is this Chloe that Sutton and Alessa are watching on the television. Well, here is her back story:

Chloe Gibbs was born to a middle-class couple living in Goose Creek, South Carolina, near Charleston. Her father was the golf pro at a local country club and her mother was an elementary school teacher. Growing up, Chole hung around her father at the club as much as possible. She was what might be called a Tomboy and enjoyed sports. In high school, Chloe played softball, basketball and, of course, golf. Her father realized, Chloe had a real talent for the game and encouraged her. In her junior year, she won the South Carolina State Girl’s Golf Championship. Her social life did not go as smoothly as her athletic one. After only a few dates with boys in her class, Chloe decided she liked girls better and scandalized both her parents by asking another girl to be her date at the prom.

After graduating from high school, Chloe attended a small school on the Mississippi Gulf Coast on a golf scholarship. There she came out as a lesbian and began openly dating other women. She also began collecting tattoos on her body. Chloe was medium tall – 5’7,” with a wiry build that belied her strength. Some days, she was capable of driving the ball over 300 yards, as far as many male professional golfers. In high school basketball, Chloe’s nose had been broken several times, but otherwise she had a pleasant face with hazel green eyes set below a mop of curly dark blonde hair.

In college Chloe was an average student in psychology, but realized her future lay in golf not counseling, so after two and a half years she dropped out and became a professional golfer. First, she worked as an assistant pro at a country club in upstate South Carolina but had to leave after one of the Board of Directors caught her going down on a comely waitress in the maintenance shed behind the12th green. Fortunately for Chloe, another club member thought Chloe had enough talent to make it on the LPGA tour, so he and several other men sponsored her. In the winter months, Chloe landed a job as a teaching pro at a country club on Long Island, New York.

It was in New York, that Chloe met Josie S., an upcoming Danish fashion model and one often featured in bikinis and lingerie. They were both working out in the same gym and taking the same Pilates class. As Chloe might say, “It was lust at first sight.”

On the tour Chloe was somewhat of an enigma. She would hit booming drives and her short game was solid, but her putting came and went. And Chloe liked to party rather than spending time practicing her putting. Since she and Josie were dating, Chloe got as much publicity in the tabloids of New York as she did in the golf magazines. At age twenty-seven, she had only two tour wins, the most famous being her amazing come back to win an LPGA tournament in the suburbs of New York. There she had finished the last two holes with a double eagle and eagle to cinch victory. And Josie had run onto the putting green after the last putt and kissed Chloe on the mouth.

The next day, on the front page of the New York Post was a photo of a tall girl, bending over a shorter, more muscular one, giving her a big kiss. The headline said, “Best kiss since the sailor and nurse in 1945.” The article about Chloe’s finish and the photo of her holding the trophy were buried on the Sports page.

And now, Chloe was playing in the Royal Thai Championship in Bangkok.

i saw a post on tiktok about dying in battle and your last words to a member of your party is a confession of your love. but then you get resurrected and have to face the consequences. and i want that but like. as a character backstory. you get resurrected which you didn’t realise your cleric could do and the person you’re in love with is like uh hey? and so you pretend to go back unconscious to continue recovering until the party rests for the night and you fuckin’ book it. change your name change your class get a new adventuring party. don’t be suspicious (don’t be suspicious)

everyone thinks you have some dark and edgy backstory but really you’re just an idiot who was so afraid of being rejected that you faked your death.

Absolutely adding this to the list of future character backgrounds

AAAAAAAAH MY HEART!! For Heavenlycondemned over on FA of their Starfinder character’s backstory.

Ciaran.

  • Age in Story: Seventeen at the beginning.

  • Description: Slightly shorter than Torin but more muscled (though not as much as Dorrell was). Short black hair with hints of red in the sun, purple-tinged eyes. Delicate features, pointy nose, heart shaped face like his mother. Acquires a scar that goes from below his ear, round his throat and ends on his collarbone. Gets green and blue Claíomh-Sciath tattoos on each forearm upon Initiation. (When I finally get a world description up I’ll explain Claíomh-Sciath).

  • Family: Father is Dorrell at age eighteen, mother Aoife age twenty(died in childbirth). Aunt Edana who parents him when Aoife dies and more later when Dorrell dies.

  • Schooling & Upbringing: Brought up by Edana as Aoife dead and Dorrell in Royal Guard (can only visit rarely). When Dorrell dies Ciaran is sponsored to the School of Soldiers. Joins the Royal Guards at eighteen.

  • Likes: Loves dragon-biscuits (made with chili powder, chocolate, pine nuts and oats). Also loves learning and thrives at the School in combat and strategy. Favourite colour jade-green.

  • Good At: Great swordsman, inhumanly good with a knife. Quick and sure in his movements, combines strength and speed, incredibly fast reflexes. He is also a natural leader in battle.

  • Not So Good: Quite naive, wants to believe the good of things. Bouts of depression about dead parents. Just as stubborn if not more so than Torin. Snaps at the people he loves when hurt. Can be impatient.

  • Character: Mood swings, good when Dorrell was around but got low sometimes. Quick to smile as a façade, makes jokes. Makes snap decisions in battle, good tactician and strategist. Steadfast friend and comrade, would give his life for the people he loves.

Also, I forgot to say that Torin and Ciaran are characters in my WIP called Stillcity, book one in The Undulating Lands series.

Torin

Age in Story: Twenty (at the start).

Description: Short spiky bronze-ish brown hair, green eyes that change with his moods, high cheekbones, square jaw and a scar stretching from above his left temple to his cheekbone. One black Claíomh-Sciath tattoo on his right arm, two on his left arm and one green tattoo on each leg.

Family: Only child, parents died when he was eleven in a traveling accident (common). Put into the Soldier’s School early, before this he spent four years in the Deep Slums on his own, survived on his wits and explosive temper than build him enough of a reputation to keep most threats away.

Schooling & Royal Guard: Put into Soldier’s School at age fifteen by Ranníocoír Circle who judged him able, he defeated his opponent unarmed for his Initiation at seventeen (youngest ever to be initiated). Three years in the Royal Guard fighting alongside Dorrell before Dorrell is killed.

Likes: Especially fond of roasted fruit and herb fritters and the alcoholic drink called Silence although he doesn’t drink much. Would kill for Edana’s crackle honey that Dorrell brings sometimes. Favourite colour amethyst purple.

Good At: Very fast and agile, but also strong. Amazing with a sword but even better at unarmed combat. Also above average with a bow. When he can Torin sketches with charcoal and paints when he can get paint.

Not So Good: Stubborn, tortures himself over his emotions, cynical, when provoked can be vicious and borderline cruel.

Character: Usually serious but can be silly with Dorrell. Willing to sacrifice self for others. Plans in advance but thinks quickly in a crisis. Loyal, honest and great-hearted.

So, thanks to a cover of Misty Mountains Cold, I now have an idea for new character. Dunno if I’ll use/mention him often, but I’m up for showing off his backstory.

This is a dragon that, instead of hoarding gold, snatches up scrolls to read. He’s been pouring countless hours into them. Legends of old, languages long past (though he may not know that), and legit records of what his ancestors said or did. Among all the fantastical creatures he’s learned about, however, none has impressed him more than the Dwarves. Their iron will and ability to craft things with the gems they find makes him wish to talk with one face to face. And if they do not wish to be friendly? Fine by him. At least he’ll have died singing their praises in their home tongue… And I meansinging.
