KLAW Day 6: Liam’s Childhood
While I wasn’t able to sit down and write out any of my ideas for this week because of being on vacation
and fucking writer’s block, I couldn’t let this week go by without appreciating one of the best LIs Choices ever made. Today I’ll be sharing screenshots of one of the best written diamond scenes in the series. The Royal Heir, Book 1 Chapter 19. Where the team finds Eleanor’s old study and Liam gets to see glimpses of her life and his childhood through her eyes as well as finally read the letter she wrote for him.SN: my Liam is named Kareem, these names will be interchangeable probably throughout the whole post
In the beginning of the scene we see Eleanor and Liam reunite for the first time after her “trip” (we don’t talk about TRF it never happened in my opinion). In this choice, we see that he already is good at negotiating and even mediating situations. Not only does he promise Leo to go out climbing after they finish their work but I’m willing to bet, by this deal, those tutors had a much better time with a more willing Leo. Liam also shows his love for animals and his creativity to create a whole festival to honor different pets. We all know Connie would be apprehensive but I bet kid Liam had the whole thing planned out. I’m imagining him with decorated poster boards with hand-drawn animals and facts about pets and how they are known to relieve stress. He flips to another poster board now with potential trophy designs that are labeled ‘the goodest of good boys’ and ‘the most purrfect cat’ and even ‘the peck of the crop’…Connie admits the idea is good but thinks to himself that the parrot drawing needs more work.
Here in this scene, Connie and Eleanor have agreed to give the boys a day off. Leo goes off to town wandering about, while Eleanor takes Liam and Drake down to the lake. I imagine that they went around mid-morning, just after breakfast. Eleanor has packed a heavy basket filled with snacks, and flavored waters, and finger sandwiches and watching her boy and his best friend play. They invited Maxwell but he was unable to come because of an allergy flair up. After hours of playing, the group leaves late into the afternoon the boys’ clothes graffitied with grass stains and slightly damp from their time playing pirates
and their multiple, continuous water fights. The sound of their snores orchestrate the whole ride home with the prince’s cutting in and out like a metronome and his pal’s booming like the brass section. Liam’s head is rested in his mother’s lap, soothed by her softly playing in his curls and warmed by her favorite floral-woodsy perfume. If he had a choice on his perfect day, it would always be just like this.I have no words, no comments. This letter from his mother perfectly says it all.
in life the most beautiful moments often coincide with the toughest ones, producing the inevitable bittersweet
