I shall pass through this world but once, any good thing therefore I can do, or any kindness I can show to any human being, let me do it now, let me not defer it or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.

This shit used to hurt me so much. Now when I go shopping I don’t even touch shit unless I know I want it lol cus I know that pain

i’m that person you see folding something and putting it back after i’ve looked at it lol

^^^ And if I can’t fold it back perfectly they’re gonna at least see that I tried.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

All.of.this

Worked in retail almost half a decade, and let me tell y'all this is daily, not just Black Friday or summer sales.

I’ve had people look me straight in the eyes while they knock over a perfectly folded stack of shirts off a table so they could put down their Starbucks cup. People leave food, drinks, diapers, used pads and bandages, even one time an actual syringe on tables.

I’ve had people destroy entire displays and complain about how dirty and “why don’t employees respect their own store” while I was directly next to them frantically trying to fix what they, themselves, just messed up.

This shit is so ingrained in me now that I fixed displays while on vacation in Disney World for a full half hour.

And before anyone says anything, no, actually picking up after grown adults that should know better, it actually isn’t my job to clean up after you all day. We have customer service, check for product, work the registers, keep the bathrooms clean, deal with angry customers, try to prevent shop lifting, and keep the store running. Recovery (fixing displays) is supposed to be low on our list because people aren’t supposed to be selfish shitheads. If you wouldn’t destroy your friend’s house, don’t destroy retail shops.

I’ve literally had people ask me if I work at several stores before because I’m cleaning up after myself??? like they are asking me for help and I’m like “idk I don’t work here” then they are like “then why are you cleaning?”

It’s,,, basic manners,,, to clean after yourself,,, what is wrong with people,,,

I front-stock items when I buy one. It’s just habit at this point.

In the lead up to the second anniversary of the Schitt’s Creek finale, I’m revisiting some of my favorite articles:

“I hope that it’s the same thing that people will remember the show for, which is just standing for something. Standing for something positive; standing for acceptance; standing for love; standing for the power of empathy and kindness; standing for the transformative effects that opening yourself up and being vulnerable and supported, what that can do to a person.”

Dear God,

Your word tells me that I will be known by my fruits. I pray that the fruit of the Holy Spirit will grow and be evident in my life, that I will be a loving and Christlike example to others, that I will have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Thank you for your Holy Spirit that makes this possible, for I know when these fruits are nurtured and grown that I will be happy and content and able to reach the potential you have for me; that I will be able to minister to others through the power of the Holy Spirit; that I will be pleasing to you. Help me please to live in the Spirit, not in the flesh.

I pray and thank you in the name of Jesus, amen.

The Orthodox Jews Who Share Their Seats and Their Hearts

Yoni Greenstein, an Orthodox Jewish man who grew up in Monsey and works in corporate America, realized something six years ago: many companies have seats at ballgames and events meant for clients which go unused, while many Jewish children suffering from illness and other difficulties could benefit from a pick-me-up that free seats at a baseball game, circus, or concert might provide.

With this simple idea of connecting excess and need, Yoni began keeping track of sporting and other event seats that were going to go to waste and started searching for sick or underprivileged children who would benefit from an outing to a ballgame which could distract them for a few hours from the hardship in their life. He knew from his own experience as a sports fan that going to a live event attended by tens of thousands of people can put a smile on most anyone’s face. And it worked.

Christmas can be a hard time for some people.

Don’t judge people or get angry if they won’t come to your function, maybe they’re doing their best just to keep their heart beating today.

Don’t expect people to bring presents, it’s been a hard year, they might be struggling just to put food on the table, keep the lights on or buy their meds.

Don’t force the holiday spirit on people. Some people have suffered severe trauma through the holiday period. You still expect them to be jolly about it just for you?

Christmas is a time to love, to be kind and care for others. Not to force big parties, bankruptcy, meltdowns or flashbacks on others.

Fuck societies expectations. Just spread the love.

A considerate Christopher Eccleston as the ninth Doctor, sharing a milky beverage with a friend.

I have felt so empowered by Eccleston’s recent advocacy for men’s mental health and discussions of his own anorexia. It can take a lot of bravery to do so in a world that can be so unkind. Here’s to wishing him the best on his ongoing journey and thanking him for the joy he’s brought me and millions of others as an incredible actor.
