A Little Reminder to Anyone Who Needs It:

Nothing is universally required in magic and spell work. What is necessary to you may be superfluous to me.

For instance: Just because a bunch of the jar spells you see online are sealed with candle wax doesn’t mean the wax is required. Think about what the magical purpose of the wax might be, and then decide if you find that purpose necessary in your spell. If you do find it necessary then implement whatever you want to achieve that purpose, it could be candle wax, it could be aluminum foil!

Sure there are traditions or paths may have requirements or best practices for spell work, like casting a circle or invoking an entity, but if you are not a member of that tradition or path you don’t need to follow those requirements.
