The Creature from the novel ‘Frankenstein’. Made to be the perfect woman, ‘Eve’. to be a partner for Adam by the ambitious Doctor Victor Frankenstein. Due to her lack of humanity, and an initial lack of understanding regarding the human concept of ‘love’, she was rejected outright and left for dead in the wilderness. Alone, she traveled the world in search for the ‘love’ that she lacked- the imperfection that kept her from being Frankenstein’s precious ‘Eve’.
While the Berserker embodies the innocence she held for life and love during the halcyon days before encountering the cruelty of the world, as well as her desire to find love and become a ‘bride’- Avenger is an aspect of the ‘Monster’ that was unloved and feared by the world, humanity, and the one she considered to be her own ‘father’.
“I am malicious because I am miserable. Am I not shunned and hated by all mankind?”
Those were the hollow words of justification that she thought as she strangled the young William Frankenstein in his sleep, framed Justine Moritz for murder, ruthlessly slaughtered Henry Clerval, and stole Victor’s last bit of humanity- the gentle woman named Elizabeth Lavenza.
If Berserker is truly ‘Eve’, Avenger is a reflection of ‘Satan’.
One a being created out of love and fell to sin due to forces outside of control and a desire for knowledge. The other created to serve, and fell to sin due to ambition and a desire for true purpose.
