TheBIG IRON Kickstarter has now ended. I’d like to think all of those that supported us over the last few weeks. We lost out this go-around, but here’s to a bright, bright creative future.
About a year ago, I was in a slump. Creatively I felt very unsure of myself, I was in a very negative place. Eventually, I realized that I had to break myself out of it, and make something that I knew I could be truly proud of - not just a goof or a parody, but something original and personal. So that’s what I did. Over the course of a year I spent large amounts of my spare time, between school and work, self-producing a crime series pilot episode based on some scripts I’d written in the past. It’s now ready, and I am indeed so totally proud of what I’ve done. So as a word to all you creators out there who lose faith in themselves, I support you and I know you can do it. To everyone, I hope you all enjoy BIG IRON - the tale of marginalized voices in 60s-era Americana, about a half-Native gunslinger hired by an eccentric tycoon in a new frontier.
We’re coming at this with nothing, no pre-established audience and very little resources. With enough people sharing and supporting us, I know we can make something great. Thanks so much for reading.
Both promos are now out for BIG IRON, my 60s-set animated crime series coming to YouTube! In this vignette, we look back at a moment from police chief Stiletto’s sordid past - a young Native American orphan trying to make it in the Deep South, wrapped up in the dealings of Prohibition-era crooks.
This project is a labor of love, and intends to tell the stories of people that rarely get their tales told. I hope you all enjoy it - and if you do, please give this a share to help get the word out for someone with a very very small audience!
“To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn’t have too much to say No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip The stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip Big iron on his hip”
This is an old drawing, from last year, I did based on the handsome ranger that Marty Robbins sings about in his song Big Iron. For some reasons I’ve never posted it but since I’m still quite happy about it (not too much of the bg) why not to post it?
