The original oil on paper painting was completed in the winter of 2017 and set on fire in the early spring. What remains is an edition of archival prints that have been signed, titled, and numbered using the ashes of the original painting. What the work asks is whether or not these prints usurp the role of the the painting in its permanent absence.

This photo was taken in 1991, I think? I was so young I don’t even really remember that big wheel trike, but it’s definitely in the driveway of my parents’ first house in Michigan.
