LIVE

Goodbye everybody, thanks for following.

Great big to tumblr.

Hello Tumblr fans! Thank you for supporting me and my blog over the years. Unfortunately, due to Tumblr’s recent policy change on adult content, which go’s into affect today, I will no longer be providing updates to this blog. But please don’t fret; you can find all my latest uncensored content on the following platform:

Welp… fuck you too Tumblr.

So Tumblr bullshit has reached its absolute peak now. Adult content as a whole is gonna be leaving. Many of the reblogs and post here are being flagged as explicit already. Many people I follow are already bouncing out. I’m going to be bouncing out as well sadly. Because the porn is the only reason I’m even here. And I don’t expect Tumblr to keep the page up once the 17th hits. Enjoy what can while it’s here, my dudes. I appreciate all over 3,000 of you for following this very sparse page. It’s an interesting ride and I’ve gotten to see many fun people, but Tumblr can go fuck itself. Hope all you still get to have the phat booty boys elsewhere.

its time to re think social media, which is becoming increasingly antisocial, anti democratic and overly censored by media companies or the state.
Ive looked over several alternatives since tumblr announced its censorship campaign (and demise). Despite there being more than a dozen of tumblr competitors, my conclusion is to skip the centralized, and thereby unreliable and locked in solutions and finally move to decentralized social media.

Mastodon is a decentralized, like email. You simply join a server, a “mastodon instance”, that is connected to the whole network, or you host you own server and let people join. Each instance is just a point of entry to the whole network, which is build by the community. Each instance can have its own rules, on what is allowed and what is not.

Then you can post and follow people on your, or other mastodon servers.
Its also possible to move your whole account and its content, following list etc. to another server.

Hello everyone, we’re going to be sending out our next batch of registration invites tomorrow. However, we have decided tomorrow’s batch will be the last round we send out for a little while. We’ve gained over 10,000 users in the last two weeks, which will be even more by tomorrow, and the site just isn’t ready to handle such a large community yet– so we’ve decided it would be better for us to close registrations for a little while, to give us time to improve some important things like load balancing and performance, our moderation system, etc. So we’ll be closing our PayPal to new payments tomorrow, Dec. 14th at 12pm EST. (Don’t worry about our expenses, we’ve received so many payments over the last two weeks that we have plenty to keep us going for a while!)

We don’t love having to do this, because of course we’d prefer to be able to welcome everyone who’s going to be leaving Tumblr over the next couple weeks, but we decided it wouldn’t benefit anyone for us to bring more users onto the site when our infrastructure wouldn’t be able to support that large a user base yet. We hope to open registrations as soon as possible and we will keep you all updated as we make progress on our development benchmarks over the next several days.

You wouldn’t know I was gonna ghost this website on December 17th if you were just observing me… Still scrolling Tumblr like the end of days aren’t nigh.

Oh, BTW, tumblr may not be in the apple store anymore, but it is on the google store.

Now would be a great time to make sure you’ve given this hellhole the 1-star rating it deserves.

lmao, today, December 7th, 2 more “adult” bot blogs followed me. This hellsite is gonna sink faster than the Titanic on December 17th…

OPEN LETTER

To:
Tumblr
Jeff D’Onofrio, Tumblr CEO
New York City, New York, United States

Dear Jeff D’Onofrio,

On December 17, Tumblr will be banning porn from its site.

By banning “adult content” from your website in truth you categorically ban sex workers regardless of how they are using your platform. You cut them off from the ability to build an audience for their work, and what’s even worse, you declare their very existence as obscene.

Tumblr allows every content creator, artist, or small entrepreneur to build an audience and communicate with this audience at any moment in time - if you do not work in the adult industry of course.

Many brands use social media to sell products. Social media and eCommerce are interlocked. You take this now away from every adult content creator around the globe. And that is wrong.

You mentioned in a blog post titled “A better, more positive Tumblr”:

“There is no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.”

You are wrong: There is a shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content, in particular when it comes to shadowbanning and the ability to also advertise on these sites.

Look, here is what we do:

Sharesome is a site that welcomes all the people that you just kicked off your platform. You gave them time until December 17th to export a backup of their blog to save their years of work. Meanwhile we will develop an import tool, so they can move to us, and we leave you with all the white supremacist Nazi blogs – because we ban that kind of shit.

Regards,

Tudor Bold                                         Ralf Kappe
CEO, Sharesome                              Founder, Sharesome

I think this is where I’m headed. The format is nice and its easily accessible for adult and NSFW content.

I look forward to seeing our amazing hypno, kink and fetish community moving to a welcoming home. This feels like a good first stop to move.

Never heard of it, but I like the cut of this letter’s jib.

If people are moving there, I’ll definitely give it a shot. A lot of other options that have been popping up aren’t working for me, so I’m just trying to see what sticks.

Gonna be honest…this ain’t bad. It’s definitely still in beta, is missing a lot of key features (no mobile app, for starters), and can definitely stand to add a LOT more “suggested topics” (no mind control, hypnosis, etc; a lot of the topics are your extremely standard/limited PornHub-level stuff), but the interface is great and very user friendly so far. Like Tumblr with a bit of Twitter thrown in.

If we all joined and collectively added more hypno content, I think it could be a phenomenal replacement!

Some place new to call home?

I mean it doesn’t have to be NSFW only right? We could make it what we want, NSFW AND SFW. Right??

Great to know about options though.

Ok never mind. I created an account and it is impossible for it to be SFW. There are “recommended” posts suggested all across the interface and especially in your dashboard/timeline so all you see is porn everywhere.

It seems like a cool alternative for NSFW accounts! But yeah, only explicitly explicit porn accounts.

Hi guys, I’ve been running this blog for 6 years. my only intention is to share the beautiful works by great artists. you might notice that I haven’t posted a thing recently. which is because the new tumblr policy is killing me. tons of my posts are flagged as adult content. so I decide to stop posting, maybe for a while if the auto detecting system turns better, or maybe for permanent if it’s still shitty. (which is a shame ‘cause I do enjoy my time on this blog.)

so, thanks for following and thank you for sharing things with me too. I’ve had a lovely time.

bye for now! let’s see if one day I’ll post again. (or find somewhere else to continue. will let you know.)

TEXT POST! Maybe don’t scroll through this one though - and I’m SO SORRY for those scrolling on their phones for the slab of text interrupting your porn, if that’s what you’re here for. I love you. I’d love it if you’d read this one… It’s about all of us here on this place. Because websites are “places” kinda, and social networks are kinda real in ways this 80′s kid couldn’t have conceived. And because in ten days you won’t be able to browse for porn here and that’s stupid.

In my OTHER online life I’m prone to #rants and they just organically emerge these days. This one is about porn. Yep, that thing that most human beings in this day and age consume in one form or MANY others for all sorts of reasons. That thing which we CANNOT AND MUST NEVER TALK ABOUT… for SOME reason.

For Those Blissfully Unaware: Tumblr is, as of December 17th (the day AFTER my Birthday, dammit), arbitrarily BANNING and then REMOVING ALL “explicit” content from the site.  And in single person TMI news… I wasn’t too bothered by this impending porn ban because over the years I, and I’m sure most of we, have all gone through many different platforms and sources for things like… that. (is that TMI? or have I just admitted that I’m a human being? Let all keep our heads people)

But then I read THIS article, which highlights the ludicrous manner in which they are going about the process. And then I read ANOTHER article which highlighted how damaging and regressive the move is for, well, everyone. And then I thought to myself, heck, the LGBTQI, the marginalised and oppressed, the questioning and uncertain… they BUILT and MADE Tumblr what it is today. And today (for the next 10 days) it is a safe place for ANYONE consenting (they have had explicit content and blogs flagged without being blocked previously) to explore themselves.

This is worse than Melissa George disavowing Home and Away, because Tumblr, being built by the fringe and marginalised, actually HELPS people (Melissa George was just blonde and pretty and good actor needing opportunity who then decided her French bulldog and croissants in Paris made her better than her roots - no help for anyone there except her dog IMO).

But in 10 days a “female-presenting nipple” will be a bridge too far and will be banned, unavailable, removed - except if it is “medically” useful or important. Apparently they’re breastfeeding-positive. Yay team. So AGAIN women’s bodies are reduced to their “primary functions” and further, queer bodies, other bodies, new and undreamed of personages and existences, are hidden, are denied visibility. They are made to be shameful or unworthy by dint of their being INVISIBLE. And it’s not just body parts, it’s attitudes, poses, suggestions… all incredibly arbitrary, unscientific, and SUBJECTIVE. Humanity, we’ve been there. It’s not fun.

At the same time, AND THIS IS THE KEY, READERS, Nazi blogs, White Power blogs, any other hate speech blogs… they’re all fine (one wonders about those BIZARRE BDSM and gay Nazi blogs which, hopefully, SURELY, will also be banned).

THE HYPOCRISY IN A NUTSHELL:

Tumblr wants to make their platform SAFE FOR CHILDREN so they are removing “female-presenting nipples” and pictures of men kissing (and male models, and Garfield, and cartoons…) BUT leaving swastikas, Confederate flags, Hitler-love, lynchings and guns (sorry Americans, I truly love you but I’m an Aussie so guns get caught up in the hypocrisy for me when it comes to “child safety”)

Lady Nipple = BAD
Sexy Man = BAD
White Power = TICK

I’m (seriously) no social justice Warrior (apparently that would mean “leftist”), but I believe in social justice (apparently that would mean “liberal”? Or would it be “centrist?” Fuck it, I don’t care, I want my citizens, wherever they are, ALIVE and SAFE), and I agree with the fundamental principle espoused by Marian Wright Edelman that “you can’t be what you can’t see.”

Some of my Facebook connections are suddenly worried and concerned by the “tide” of trans* people in the media, or even just LGBTQI people. News Flash: it’s because you can’t be what you can’t see.

Ten years ago, as a gay man, I couldn’t see myself in many places except as an outrageous caricature, or as a tragic stereotype doomed to die by my own hand or others, or to “decide” to be straight and satisfy the status quo. But I saw myself in enough places to (eventually) fight through the stigma and social rejection and bullying to accept myself as I AM. Many, many queer folks are still going through this because despite our achievements we’re still not there. I was damn lucky.

Trans* people are really only barely beginning this process. We’re really only beginning to see trans* people on TV and film, and only barely beginning to see them as themselves and not as stereotypes.

So Tumblr is basically shooting it’s core client base in the FACE and expecting to continue on, business as usual. And corporate Earth being what it is, they’ll probably somehow survive. But they will be a pale remnant of what they were if they do. I hope fervently that the desertion in droves of users causes them to fail totally and collapse. Free market bullshit and all that.

OR…

novel idea…

…change your mind. Politicians, corporate juggernauts, men, HR Managers, cats, all find it very hard to do this simple thing which is CHANGING ONE’S MIND. In another life I would drop the wisdom that changing your mind is the true essence of MAGIC. Refusing to change one’s mind is a rejection of the covenant we enter into when we a born into this world - to live in it, to experience it, and to learn from it. The last one is the one we need to focus on. Not changing is not learning.

THANK YOU for reading all of this (if you actually have!).

As an addendum to this rant, out of curiosity I went to check how many followers my Tumblr has - yeah I’ve never really worried about that before. I have over 2,500 followers! That’s 2,500 people I’ve been sharing with that I don’t even know. And yet I you’re all awesome and marvelous, and you all deserve to be able to see and share what makes you happy. If you’ve actually read all of this #nickrant I applaud you and thank you. Now I’m REALLY angry.

This is my favorite vtuber Rene Ryugasaki, and my last post on tumblr.

At the end of 2018, tumblr banned adult content and killed my largest following at the time on my NSFW account.

I was really disappointed, but I kept posting on this account. Watching the years go by though, it’s clear this platform has learned nothing and we’re all just watching it slowly die.

Please know i’m not leaving to spite anyone who still comes here. I’m leaving because i’m done supporting this platform. If you still like tumblr, more power to you - for me, it’s become nothing but a chore.

NEW PLACE! menembarrassed.home.blog

Tumblr is banning all kinds of explicit content so menembarrassed has no place here anymore. It’s sad to see the most open, diverse and inclusive internet community closing its doors. I have to admit there were very problematic blogs creating legal issues for Tumblr, so this was the easiest solution.

I want to thank everyone who watched this blog, talked to me about their personal experiences or even sent me their photos. You made this a hotter place!

It’s time to move one to a more free community.

All your favorite embarrassing moments, tiny cocks and flopping dicklets will return to make you hard again. Great things are cumming…

Don’t forget to stay sexy. And remember! Anyone can be sexy.

Embarrassed men are hot.

Hope I’ll see you again.

Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.

Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).

Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.

So what is changing?

Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.

Why are we doing this?

It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.

So what’s next?

Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.

Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.

Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.

Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

Well, it’s been a fun run.

Might delete my blog before the new year, it will just get banned if I don’t.

How fucking lame.

I may make a new SFW blog but I’m not sure atm.

This is the end of the tumblr and all its freedom and neutrality.

Are there other means of ending pornography, but punishing all NSFW content that is allowed for years?

This is hypocrisy.

Tumblr has already been neutral, and a place where you could post your work freely. But now, it has become just another Facebook, full of idiot rules and always censoring its users.

I’m still looking for a new place to post my art and projects, but meanwhile you can find me in my facebook page

I’m not a NSFW artist, but I think that random inaccurate algorithms cannot judge what constitutes art or lewd. Fuck, not even a human. Each one of us have a definition of what is art and what is not, and I will not participate in a platform where I live in fear of any of my art being flagged.

So, fuck this.

I’m out.
