I might have gone a bit overboard setting up the taxes for Calamity Hills but as soon as Ragnar tops the politics career track our municipal building will be unlocked and taxes will start and I wanted to be ready for that!
It looks a little cumbersome but in practice it should be easy–like 30 seconds to plug in the numbers and everything is calculated for us.
Here’s our rates:
Income Taxes: 20% of weekly salary collected every Friday. No one is exempt: pets, teens and elder careers are all taxed.
Property Taxes: 10%-50% of property value (+bank balances once banks are unlocked w/ business) to be collected the last day of Season 4. (Increases by 10% for every 100K up to 50% for 500K and up).
Deductions: Business and vacation homes are not taxed so our richest Sims can invest in real estate (once it’s unlocked) to reduce their property taxes.
Life of Crime payments are still in effect and increasing every week so the income taxes on top of that should be an interesting challenge for some of our families.
Bankding Add On: SimWardrobe’s Checkbook +Standing
Here’s SimWardrobe’s checkbook edited to give an option for a standing writing animation which looks great in retail situations. I also edited the checkbook to get rid of the register so only the check is left. Everything else remains the same (you can still write checks from a desk or table).
USE The standing animation is the hotel check-in from BV which I used to replace the sitting on the floor animation. Because of that the checkbook must be placed on the floor–and can not snap into any slots–in order for the standing option to work. The checkbook is height adjustable so with the checkbook placed on the ground raise it to counter height (10 or 11 clicks).
ISSUES The checkbook disappears after use so practically it’s only suitable for unowned community lots but there’s no restrictions and it can be used on any lot. Sims also fill out the check without a pen. @earlypleasantview was able to help me spawn the pen (thank you so much!) but I couldn’t ever get it to sync up with the animation so it looked better without.
INCLUDED I’ve included all of the files needed and the original readme. If you already have the checkbook you need to pull this file: SW-Checkbook-Part-1
Thanks for the interest in this and sorry again for the wait. :)
Here are the few pieces of cc I used to put together the bobo food stand in the Calamity Hills municipal building video. Inge’s mod does the heavy lifting but here are the bits I made. Includes:
If you were interested in these at the time I’m sorry it’s taken so long to share. I never did anything more with these so they should look/work just like in the video.
I converted the display from this set on aroundthesims and made 2 more meshes by editing it. Shelf parts are slaved to AL shelf and metal parts are slaved to the right one. Picture of slots and swatch is below.
These are the slots:

Update (11.09.2018) : Now the shelves doesnt have the “view” option. DOWNLOAD
Love these shelves! They’re exactly what I needed for my library. 10/10 would recommend. h/t @pleasantsimmer
We admire the seasons Winnie restored, Wally shows off his cow plant, Jan gets her big break, Dustin goes Downtown looking for love (where our desperation almost gets the better of us) and we start thinking about college!
We take care of a ton of Lot Adjuster projects, earn 30K for the town in the process and purchase, decorate and move the Ottomas family into their new house.
Our town reward for lifting the education restriction is the Please Play Museum! We take a tour, set it up as a player run business, fix the OFB eyebrow/outfit glitch and send the Dagny’s on an outing.
Winnie refuses to move in with crazy Aunt Casey, we implement homework rules, our dirt babies age up to teens and Lena decides her friend, Samantha Ottomas, should move to Calamity Hills.
A very laid back and relaxed episode we spend fixing up the path to the ruins. There’s more to be done to make it something special but it’s a good start.
New Roads Everybody! A quick decision to add roads and placeholder houses works out and the lower neighborhood starts to take shape. Also trees. More and more trees…
Futures are decided for the whole family and we test a new system for determining aspirations. I don’t have to tell you mistakes were made. Also, Una is the cutest Dagny to date thanks to Jan’s cheeks.
We decide on new trees, edit the roads with Hood Replace (and SimCity 4), use the Lot Adjuster to add our bar lot, buy 3 more houses and try out a Maxis Match horizon.
This just might be the final flora scheme we go with for Calamity Hills. (Expect a new building episode later today – the file is huge so it’s taking forever to upload/process.)
#43 Building Calamity Hills We skip the tower and turn our attention to the neighborhood. Importing new roads from Sim City 4 with Mootilda’s Hood Replace breathed new life into Calamity Hills. I’m excited to see what the map will look like when we’re done. I hope it’s nice!
