This weekend was a Mechanisms photoshoot! Hard to make pictures suitable for the gritty darkness of The City on a blazing sunny day, but we did our best.

At Oxford University, you have to wear full academic dress to your exams. A lot of people think it’s silly, a lot of other people like it, and a lot of people just get on with wearing it, because it’s a thing you have to do. (And the rules are gender-neutral now, which is a Cool Thing.)
Something you don’t have to have, but a lot of people do, is a carnation: white on your first exam, red on your last, and pink for everything in between.
Red carnations feel good.

Cornmarket in the daytime is probably the busiest street in town, especially on a sunny Saturday. But in the evening, the shops close and the tourists retreat to their hotels; the delivery vans and the bin lorries emerge; it becomes a street that’s actually okay to walk down, rather than a crowded bustle of people getting in each others’ way.

Pocketwatch and The Mechanisms at the Oxford Steampunk Soirée, Feb 9th 2013.
Pocketwatch had all kinds of lovely things - from their own originals, to material from the Clockwork Quartet days, to covers of Toto’s Africa.
The Mechanisms debuted their new material for the Ulysses Dies At Dawn album, and it was beyond lovely.
I don’t have a camera that can cope well with such low light, but I managed to get a few pretty things nonetheless.
And the last of the old photos - these are February 2013. I’ll be back to non-Mechs things now. (Probably.)
