Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Words: 1.1K

Happiness doesn’t come through selfishness, but through selflessness.

Traitor in the Republic! The Jedi Council has discovered that former senator, Hanu Lansta, has arranged to meet with a Sepratist ally to sell Republic secrets. Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has tracked Lansta to the planet of Catonica, and has been undercover for several rotations, attempting to locate the traitor. Having found little success, he calls upon his friends, Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, to aid him in the search…

“We’re coming up to Catonica. Almost ready, Snips?”

Ahsoka’s voice crackled through the ship’s comm.

“Just about. Remind me again why I can’t just stay with the ship?” Anakin’s mouth twitched into a smile.

“Since when have you ever wanted to sit out a mission?” The door hissed behind him, and he turned to see a very annoyed padawan uncomfortably adjusting a long, elegant dress.

“Since you insisted on disguises. Cause that worked out so well last time.” She slid into the copilot’s chair, grumbling something incoherent as the tight fabric restricted her movements.

“If you’re referring to the business on Zygerria, that was hardly my fault. Everything was under control until-”
“Yeah, yeah until Obi-Wan got caught, I know.” She reached down, trying to tear a slit at the base of the dress.

“Hey! Cut it out, I have to return that to Padme you know!”

“You couldn’t have asked her for something a little more, I don’t know, battle friendly?” Anakin flicked on a holomap of the planet, a blue aura filling the small cabin.

“All goes well, we won’t have a need to be ‘battle-friendly.”
“When do any of our missions go well?”

Anakin opened his mouth to retort before a shrill tone echoed, drawing his attention to the map. A small red blip shone brightly, and Anakin pressed a button, enlarging the area. All thoughts of petty squabble vanished from both master and apprentice’s minds as they studied the new information. The transmitter lit up, and Ahsoka quickly flicked it on to receive the message.

“Hello Master,” Anakin leaned forward, a smile playing on his lips as he studied his friend. “You look simply-”

“That’s quite enough, Anakin.”

“What? Did I say anything? Ahsoka, did I say anything?”

“Not a thing, Master.” Ahsoka suppressed a snigger. The sight of the wise Jedi mentor looking far too comfortable in heavy senatorial robes, holding himself with some prestige told her in an instant that Master Kenobi was secretly enjoying this assignment a little too much. Obi-Wan ignored their quips.

“From what I could gather, Hanu Lansta is arriving tonight to make the transaction. Where exactly, I was unable to discover. But you will see on the map I transmitted, there are three possible locations. The casino, the racetracks, and the docks.” As he spoke, the respective areas began to glow brightly on the map in front of the master and padawan. Anakin cocked an eyebrow.

“So change of plans then?”

“Indeed. I’m afraid it won’t be an easy extraction. We’ll need to split up if we’re to find and stop him.”

“What’re you thinking, Master?”

“Cody and I will cover the central casino. Anakin, you’ll take the docks. Ahsoka, you’ll be with Rex at the tracks.” Ahsoka nodded, suppressing a smile at the thought of Rex in one of those stuffy robes.

“Copy that.” Obi-Wan nodded at Anakin, a shadow falling over his face.

“It is critical we find Lansta. If he hands off the coordinates to the Separatists, it could be detrimental to the Republic. We must capture him alive, and try to avoid any civilian entanglements.”
“Oh, is that all? Sounds easy enough, right Snips?” Ahsoka grinned at Anakin, beginning to feel that familiar rush of excitement she always got before a mission.

“As easy as navigating a nebula.” Anakin’s mouth twitched into a smile.

“Not to worry, Master. We’ll be landing shortly.”

“I’ll meet you at the central plaza. Oh, and Anakin? Pay for a landing platform. We don’t need any unnecessary complications from the police from you landing in an unauthorized area.”

“There goes my plans to land on the beach,” Anakin quipped sarcastically. Obi-Wan shot him a glare.

“Just get down here.” The hologram flickered off and Anakin sighed, leaning back in his seat, drumming his fingers on his knee. Ahsoka noticed the contemplative gesture. Before she could ask, Anakin gave a small grumble, muttering to himself.

“Well, there REALLY goes my plans to land on the beach.” Ahsoka rolled her eyes. Anakin leaned forward, pressing a button, bringing up the specs of the city they were quickly approaching: Canto Bight.

“You better go tell Rex he’s going to need a change of clothes.” Ahsoka’s face broke out into a wide smile.

“With pleasure.” Ahsoka swung her legs to the side of her seat, stumbling a little when trying to stand. Ignoring Anakin’s muted laughter, she left the deck and headed towards Rex in the cargo hold, stopping for a moment to pick up a bundle of clothes from a neatly packed case Padme had put together. Luckily, she had the foresight to include a set of robes for Rex, predicting, quite correctly, that he would have to become involved in the ground search, contrary to the original plan.

Which is why, believing to be free himself of any sort of disguises, Rex looked up at his entering friend and began to laugh, enjoying immensely her uncomfortable expression. He could tell immediately she was not at all happy with the restrictive slick white dress. He tried half-heartedly to cover his laugh with a cough, setting aside the fusion cutter he was using to modify a lugjack droid.
“Well, look on the brightside, Commander. You look the part.” Ahsoka raised an eyebrow.

“And what part is that?” Rex grinned.

“Rich, entitled sleemo.” Ahsoka gave him a sickly sweet smile.

“Are you saying that’s a bad thing?” Rex’s smile vanished, instantly noting her tone.

“Uhh, sir?” A soft bundle came sailing towards his face, and his reflexes kicked in, causing him to catch it. Rex began to be filled with what could only be described as dread as he looked down at the package.

“Better get dressed. Hope you don’t mind looking like a ‘rich, entitled sleemo’.” All thoughts he had of spending this mission on the ship while he enjoyed the comforts of his own armor as Ahsoka and Anakin played dress up vanished.

“Sir, yes sir,” He grumbled to himself. Ahsoka smiled vehemently, and left him, relishing the fact that the only person who disliked disguises as much as her, was Captain Rex.

“Maybe this mission won’t be so bad after all.”

Part 1 of my 007/Canto Bight/Clone Wars fic! I had this idea a while back ago, and I finally started on it! Hopefully you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading!

Concept: Anakin, Obi Wan, Ahsoka and Rex have to go undercover at Canto Bight to find and extract a *insert person of importance*

Why am I thinking about this?

Cause I want to see Rex in a fancy suit goshdangit

Obi Wan would be incredibly suave and sophisticated, blending into the crowd a little too well. Anakin finds him at a gambling table and mutters about all the help he’s giving them. Obi Wan would just sip his cocktail and pleasantly excuse himself from the company to continue with the mission.

Anakin hates it here. The rich, entitled people disgusts him. He almost loses his mind seeing a young slave boy being abused by his master. But, he keeps his cool. He flirts with a beautiful alien woman to find out where their *insert person of importance* is, much to the annoyance of Ahsoka.

Ahsoka just wants to get out as quickly as possible. The dress Padme gave her is frightfully stifling, not at all good for combat. But, Anakin insisted on it. She wanted to wait in the ship, but they needed all the eyes possible. Rex laughed at her when he first saw her uncomfortably walk out in the glistening sleek dress.

Rex’s smug laugh quickly was lost when he was given what he was to wear. He was used to armor, but this was a whole new level of discomfort. He acts as Ahsoka’s “body guard” throughout the mission, staying close by her side and quipping with her.

I have so many ideas with this. I just want a James Bond mission with these guys. Concept is very similar to the Slaves of the Republic arc, except with more fancy costumes, snippy dialogue and the inevitable fight scene that includes Ahsoka and Rex gladly altering their clothes to battle in.
