#cat brothers
Background: My cats are good travelers. They snuggle together in the crate and usually nap the duration of the trip. I noticed when going to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving that they only “spoke” during certain songs. I took these meows as “change the damn song, this is horrible.”
For Christmas travel, I decided to listen to some new music, and count the number of meows. For each meow, I deducted one point from 100 and assigned a letter grade.
First up, Lady Gaga’s “Artpop.”
In a nutshell, the cats found this musically schizophrenic.
Winston was especially offended by the carelessness with which she ditched her dance-pop sweet spot to explore the depths of white-girl-trying-to-be-tough hip-hop. I think during one prolonged meow he called GaGa a sellout.
Link was a bit nicer, but he couldn’t understand why the album was so long. He only meowed a few times prior to the tenth track. After that it was meow mudslide accompanied by befuddled looks at lyrics, like “listen to her radiate magic.” He was clearly saying “what the hell does that mean?”
Best tracks (meaning, there were zero meows): "Aura,“ "G.U.Y.,” “Do What U Want.” “Artpop” and “Gypsy”
Worst tracks: "Jewels N’ Drugs,“ "Donatella,” “May Jane Holland” and “Dope”
Overall rating: 71/100 or a C minus.
Interesting note, GaGa could have had a solid B if she just removed “Jewels N’ Drugs” from the album. It received the most meows of any song my cats have ever heard.
Guess they don’t like Twista.
