Boba shares an apartment on the residential area of Isle Three with their childhood friend. As for his relations to the twins, he had heard of their feat against the Devil, but doubted the validity of the story. He now knows Cuphead and Mugman personally through Val, but still harbors doubts over their fairy-tale victory.
Mostly a homebody, Boba works from his computer at home doing odd jobs for extra money, doing anything from customer service calls, to tutoring, to occasional game streaming. As such, Boba wouldn’t really get out much were it not for his robotics class with Dr. Kahl and, of course, Val’s constant sense of wanderlust.
Always the bright one, Boba is intelligent and quick-witted. They’re always searching for new ways to teach and challenge themselves. With his trustworthiness and the fact he’s such an easy talker, Boba can easily talk himself out of (or into) any situation he wants, never getting into any physical fights and instead controlling the circumstances with a silver tongue.

Val shares an apartment on the residential area of Isle Three with their childhood friend, since moving away out of her father’s tailor shop. She met Cuphead well after the repossession job he took for the Devil, and has since been a good friend of his, following him for the excitement he brings to their mundane day-to-day life.
When they aren’t working at the Houndstooth Diner on Isle Two as a waiter, they can be often be found hanging around Cuphead, participating in the general chaos and daily shenanigans. Not armed with the magic potion that Cuphead and Mugman received from the Elder Kettle, Val protects herself with a rose gold hammer which she keeps on her at all times (hidden with toon logic, naturally).
Val tends to listen to her heart far more often than she listens to her head, and will act on impulses that just “feel right”. Always looking for the good in situations, and if Val cannot find compassion, they will be the compassion. However, they can come off as a bit childish, and they have a habit of putting their own troubles on hold to help others–wearing themselves down in the process.

Currently living on Isle One with his brother and grandfather, Mugman is widely infamous across Inkwell for being one of the two toons who freed the isles from their debts to the Devil. He and his twin brother are now more locally known for being general nuisances and conmen, masquerading as street magicians.
Mugman has friends all over Inkwell, and as such, can be pretty hard to find on a day-to-day basis. When he’s not putting on shows with his brother, he can be anywhere from Isle One lifting logs and doing honest manual labor with Chip, to Isle Three mediating arguments between Ludwig and Wolfgang.
Mugman is an expertly balanced voice of reason, knowing exactly when to back out of situations while still being enough of a troublemaker to get himself into said situations. Despite his bulky appearance, Mugman isn’t a rough or violent toon–more gentle and respectful than most others.

Currently living on Isle One with his brother and grandfather, Cuphead is widely infamous across Inkwell for being one of the two toons who freed the isles from their debts to the Devil. He and his twin brother are now more locally known for being general nuisances and conmen, masquerading as street magicians.
During the few times he isn’t with his brother, Cuphead can likely be found on Isle Three, either causing general problems with his friends or getting into arguments with the residents (namely Forkington or Wolfgang).
Cuphead has a history of acting first and thinking later, his greed leading him to irrational decisions and actions. Despite it all, Cuphead is a man of his word who always tries to make good on his promises, and will stand up for those who need it.
