Hey guys! I haven’t been active in ages but got nostalgic looking through all my posts here it makes me wonder who all is still active and what new CC there is i think some of my links are broken and CC not updated for latest patches- my TOU is pretty open though so I suspect someone else has updated if they truly wanted any of my stuff haha. I haven’t updated my game in forever and I’m pretty sure I forgot how to make CC, but if I ever get enough free time I’ll try to sort through things! Since I started working full time, I’ve barely had time for anything rip. But I might come back casually once I fix my game :) how are the new packs? Are yall still enjoying sims 4 or is it even more of a dumpster fire? I miss yall and really hope you’re doing well and staying healthy! ☺

Edit: btw here are some links since my patreon seemss to be broken:

I imagine they aren’t working with the latest patch, but just in case they’re wanted. I’ll add them to the download posts later as well!

miikocc:

Although I’m extremely wary of entering the paysites vs no paysites discussion, I came across a website dedicated to uploading CC from Patreon for free… And this isn’t exactly what bothered me, but rather it was the statement that they will not upload items associated with EA, since EA “holds the rights to sell their content.”

I just wanted to clarify something… Yes, EA holds the rights to sell their content. EA also acknowledges that the rights to sell CC created from scratch (mesh and textures) are held 100% by the creator. What EA doesn’t want, is for someone to put a forever-paywall on content that is originally theirs. So this includes a frankenmesh, a mesh edit, or a recolor, for example, but they have agreed that 3 weeks early access is still okay. This is the reply most people refer to, regardless of whether or not it actually applies.

However, content that is created for The Sims 4 withoutusing the game’s content as a base, does not belong to EA; it belongs to the creator. EA cannot, and have never said that creators can’t make Patreon Exclusive content in these cases. They’ve actually said the opposite.

EA doesn’t want anyone to monetize theircontent - that’s it.

In other words, reuploading Custom Content that was meant to be Patreon Exclusive, and was made from scratch by the creator, is just as “heroic” as stealing a drawing just so the artist can’t make money from their work. And making the distinction between that and pirating EA content, as the above example, only means you have more respect for a big corporation than you do for a small creator.

I’m not here to tell someone what to do (except to wear a helmet on the electric scooters!). But the attitude that people who reupload Patreon-content are acting on EA’s will and only being generous, is simply false. It’s sharing of other people’s intellectual property, just like reuploading the game itself, or someone’s art, or someone’s music. And when you complain that a CC creator is doing “too well” and “making money off a scam,” well as long as their content is originally theirs and high quality, there is no scam about it.* We should celebratewhen people do well in creative careers, not condemn it.

*Since the quality of work is subjective, I’m wary of even mentioning the word, but of course there are obvious exceptions to what I’m saying here. If the price and promise of a Patreon does not match the actual product, you could define that as a scam. So I’m talking only about thoughtful creators who are doing their best.

That said, I have no plans to switch from Early Access to Patreon Exclusive CC. But please… stop demanding free things from artists, 3D artists, web-designers, and all these other occupations that boomers tell us are “not real jobs.” Of course they’re real jobs, and of course it’s real work. To make CC from scratch, you’re also likely to have to pay for expensive equipment and software.

That is all…♡

Imagine popping out of the womb with a patreon account, having one of the most expensive early access tiers for a maxis match creator from the very start of your very new blog, and having the means to contact a lawyer over a sims 4 dress, and still hiding your greed under some uwu cover. Even if it’s technically legal, it’s pretty clear who you owe your damn coin to- without the sims, how would you be making money off your content? It wouldn’t even exist. Not to mention almost all of your cc has been inspired by something else- the strawberry dress, Disney Belle’s hair, Studio Ghibli’s clouds, and Sailor Moon’s entire aesthetic including hair. You didn’t come up with any of those on your own. Also, the hairs at least DID use EA’s meshes/textures. So are you banning people for sharing those too, or just your completely original(?) dresses? No one is demanding it for free or saying you didn’t put real work into it, btw, I know full well how long meshing and recoloring takes even for EA based items… but damn. Credit where credit is due.

To be honest though, EA’s TOU isn’t even something I care about or am defending, because they’re terrible too. But it really gets me when a creator in this community tries to sit on their damn high horse, when they’re charging and making more than 99% of MM creators that have been around longer and posted more content, after raising their early access price (when it was already one of the highest to begin with) and villainizing people sharing with their friends during a global pandemic as well. Yeah, I shared your cc with my friends, because most of us don’t have the means to pay 3.50+ a month for simple sims 4 content right now. Many people are struggling and have to cancel all their pledges atm (as well as pirate games/music etc, most sims players on here seem to pirate the game so idk why you seem unaware of it) and this is the first time I’ve even been able to support some creators financially, and one of the creators I chose was you. I regret that, because it’s clear it’s only about money for you, the primary purpose you created this blog and your only thought when putting all this work into this cc. And you can do that if you want, I’m not trying to stop you and everyone needs money, but I no longer want to support you myself. Piracy wouldn’t make you lose patrons- most people who are doing it, as I said, don’t have the means to pay you in the first place- but this post definitely will. I don’t even think you’re talking about me, but don’t worry, you won’t have to “give me another chance”. I want a refund since you’re wanting to part so amicably, and I won’t be re-pledging in the future.

btw, my theme should be fixed now (navigation was broken before where there were no arrows to go to the next page) and I updated the links on my last three cc posts to have simfileshare (my patreon broke apparently lol). I’ve been gradually working on updating my old hairs to the new EA swatches and finishing up a few old wips that were close to done when I left. But I forgot most of what I knew about cc so progress is slow, haha! If anything else is broken that I need to attend to, lmk and I’ll get to it as I can :3

me checking back in on ts4 simblr to see like two cc posts a day and they’re both early access:

@miikocc- so, not only did you ban someone from your patreon for something that isn’t bannable (since they did nothing wrong, you have no power to use your own TOU to go against EA’s TOU stating people have the ability to redistribute your content), you overstepped and went to other creators to “warn” them about a person. Which could affect their reputation and pledges, and therefore the money they spent on them. And you still haven’t replied to your post that now has 200+ notes. My respect just keeps diving lower and lower.

Where is @toddiangirl21’s refund, and for that matter, where is mine?

me trying to figure out how to update my cc and release my old wips when I don’t remember how to make cc
