Kirstie van Noort’s interestingly textured and meticulously pigmented ceramic creations is part of an inspiring process of seeing design as a means to communicate the story behind a material. She has traveled multiple times to research the influences of different industries over landscapes and their unique colors. Through her detailed tests and experiments, she has come up with thoughtful concepts that illustrate the importance of understanding where certain products come from. http://kirstievannoort.nl/
Japanese ceramics designer Reiko Kaneko will show the results of three years of experimentation with bone china porcelain glazing at this year’s London Design Festival. Studio ODDNESS is a collaboration between Thomas van der Sman and Adrianus Kundert. Handmade in their studio in Eindhoven, their first collection, Bubblegraphy is a series of ceramic vases. Each object is carefully crafted and finished with a soap glaze that creates a unique pattern and creative colors. The two artists combine craftsmanship and aesthetics, to design products that explore volume, shape and material.
