The Cement Garden is an amazing film which i almost never saw. There is a stigma to certain topics covered on film where people will run away or automatically dismiss them, but when handled delicately the results can be profound and beautiful. Probably the reason why i only saw it now, expecting it to be awkward or trivializing and then you’re totally in awe by the end of it. It gives you a lot to think about long after it ends. As dark or as bleak as some films can get, the payoff can be tremendous if you’re patient. Why films mean so much to me.
