Gurney Halleck - The Warmaster / Smuggler

Well looks like I will eventually design every character. After reading Children, I loved Gurney’s character even more.

I just finished reading Children of Dune and had to draw a Leto. Loved this book, probably my favorite thus far! 

And here’s a random Paul I drew awhile ago.

I always forget how much of a wild ride Children of Dune is until I start reading about forty pages a day because I tell myself “just one more chapter”

All proofs inevitably lead to propositions which have no proof. All things are known because we want to believe in them.

There is no guilt or innocence in you. All of that is past. Guilt belabors the dead and I am not the Iron Hammer. You multitude of the dead are merely people who have done certain things, and the memory of those things illuminates my path.

In the olden times… each wind had its name. A six-klick wind was called a Pastaza, a twenty-klick wind was Cueshma, and a hundred-klick wind was Heinali – Heinali, the man-pusher. Then there was the wind of the demon in the open desert: Hulasikali Wala, the wind that eats flesh.

This is the fallacy of power: ultimately it is effective only in an absolute, a limited universe. But the basic lesson of our relativistic universe is that things change. Any power must always meet a greater power.

“To exist is to stand out, away from the background,” The Preacher said. “You aren’t thinking or really existing unless you’re willing to risk even your own sanity in the judgment of your existence.”

People, not commercial organizations or chains of command, are what make great civilizations work. Every civilization depends upon the quality of the individuals it produces. If you over-organize humans, over-legalize them, suppress their urge to greatness — they cannot work and their civilization collapses.
