WR: Not as much as I’d like to know, but I do know some things.

WR: For starters, they’re those who - as I know right now - control their Aspect or control through their Aspect. In that case, they would control fate, or control who dies and how - and so on.

WR: As for some other noteworthy information; they’re very social, but also rather gloomy. Often pessimistic, they do reach out to other people, but sometimes may wind up just being a drag. But they really are great people, that much is certain.

WR: Well, they’ve all got a good handful of differences, that much is easy enough to point out. In terms of personality, the Knight is much more closed off and has a will to protect those they know. The Witch is much more outgoing and doesn’t mind being rude if it gets their point across, and the Page is often, in their earlier stages, very clumsy and bashful, but still talkative to some degree.

WR: In terms of similarities, I’ve heard that Pages may eventually come to some point where they start emphasizing themselves as much as Witches, and that Witches have about as much want to protect their friends as Knights, but I don’t really have enough samples of evidence to that end.

My best guess is that Sburb uses ‘class’ the same way most RPGs do. It refers to your particular specialization in the game’s system, and your role in the party. 

Do you fight? Do you heal? Are you a mobility or support caster? It’s all in the Class, and we’re going to look at the four belonging to our Players.

Heir, noun. 
A person who inherits the estate of another; a person who succeeds to a hereditary rank, title, or office; one who receives or is expected to receive a heritage, as of ideas, from a predecessor.

Heiris a weird name for class, because it doesn’t symbolize much on its own. The cultural roles of the Knight, Seer and Witch are well-defined, but when you’re an Heir, your purpose is entirely dictated by what you’re an Heir of. 

John’s Class is definitely the hardest to decipher, and we haven’t seen him consciously use any Aspect magic, so there’s not a lot to go on. I dohave a theory, but it’s more based on vibes than any actual evidence. 

My theory is that the Heir doesn’t have a specialization. I think that as the ‘heir’ of the Breath Aspect, John will have a decent command of every Breath ability - because when you’re an Heir, your only role is to inherit, to receive the power that is your birthright. What you do with it is up to you. 

This would make John a generalist,and he’ll support the team by wielding Breath in an versatile manner to give help where it’s needed. He’ll never be as good at reconnaissance as a Seer of Breath, but he can do a little.He won’t be able to fight as hard as the combat classes, but he’ll be no slouch. You get the picture. 

In other words, the Heir would be the party member that has levels in everysubclass, but none of them are maxed out. 

I don’t think John directly inherits fromanyone. In the same way that many RPG priests are just generic ‘clerics’ who don’t seem to serve any god, I think the term is just convenient shorthand for what his class is supposed to do. Hopefully we’ll see what that is before long. 

Seer,noun. 
One that sees; a clairvoyant; a prophet.

This one is the easiest. The Seeris almost certainly a knowledge-based class centered around observation. Rose’s ability to perceive Sburb’s systems is a cut above the rest - something she demonstrated when she was able to directly perceive the commands of her Exile. 

My guess is that the Seer is optimized for intel-gathering, and that their party role is to gather and consolidate information. The Seer would be the party member with the detect or analyze ability - the one that tells you what status conditions the boss is weak to.

Knight, noun. 
A mounted man-at-arms to a feudal landholder; a medieval gentleman-soldier, a defender, champion, or zealous upholder of a cause or principle.

I’m less sure about this one, but I thinkthat the Knightis a ‘protector’ class. Dave’s first act as a time traveler was to save John and Jade’s lives, and Davesprite intends to continue doing so, promising to bail the party out if things go south again. 

The Knight’s role seems to be to keep the team alive, and protect them from danger. The Knight would be the party member with the ‘target me instead’ ability that redirects damage away from their allies. 

Like the Heir, I think the term ‘Knight’ was just chosen here because it encapsulates a concept, and it’s a shorter, neater word than Paladin,which is what I think this class actually is. 

Witch, noun
A person, especially a woman, claiming or popularly believed to possess magical powers and practice sorcery.

This one’s hard. Everythingin Sburb is magical, in a sense, so it can’t just be the ‘magic’ class - especially since the Magealso exists. So what does a Witch do?

Jade has manifested her Classpect power in one ambiguous way - it seems to help her use technology. How this conceptually relates to a WitchI couldn’t say. 

Maybe the Witch is in some way akin to an artificer,and their role is to work on large-scale, big-picture projects for the party? But again - that doesn’t really make sense for a class called Witch. 

Dunno about this one. We’ll just have to wait for Jade to do more.
