Imagine you’re some big time lawyer for a multinational, multimillion dollar company and you’re walking into court to defend your company against charges for crimes they absolutely committed. And you’re thinking to yourself, “I’m a big time lawyer for a multinational, multimillion dollar company— I can win this case in my sleep and if I can’t, I can always buy it out.” And you walk into court on the first day of trial thinking you’ve got this in the bag, thinking there’s no way you could lose. And you walk into the court room, and you approach the bench. And you’re confronted with fucking Jimmy Papadopoulos. And he WINS.
It really IS like [Eliot in the shower, curtain pulls back, Hardison: “hey are we - stop screaming it’s just me - are we past your emotional and physical barriers yet?”] tho.
I want this fic. I want BOTH of these fics. I want Hardison & Parker deciding that if Eliot isn’t going to be talkative on his own, the occasional fun and festive Shower Ambush is the way to go. He’s flustered enough to shoot answers from the hip, and naked enough to not escape easily. The escalation from ‘where’s the orange soda?’ to ‘you know we know you love us, right?’ would be a thing of beauty.
Plus, who’s going to pass up that gun (…and etc.) show? (Hardison is, because he’s a gentleman whose Nana raised him right. He [mostly] doesn’t look. Parker looks. Unabashedly. And occasionally tries to poke a scar that she hasn’t seen before. At one point a slap fight may or may not happen.)

Can someone smarter than me please explain why the lift handoffs in leverage are so goddamn intimate?
Like, I am handing you this stolen object discretely and out of sight from everyone else. Our hands are touching but we’re not looking at each other at all. We are passing through a crowded room heading in opposite directions yet we are on the same team and we are having a brief point of contact to exchange something important and illicit. We are complementary parts of a greater design, two fitting cogs of a machine we’ve built together.
I have come to the decision that I need to read more Leverage fics where Eliot goes on a rampage and just absolutely obliterates a bunch of people for taking/hurting Parker or Hardison. This could mean him slipping back into Murder Eliot mode, ruthless and calculating and efficient no one who gets in his way is left alive or this could mean him going off script; Nate, Sophie and Parker or hardison (whoever wasn’t taken ofc) try to make a plan and figure it out but when they finally look up to ask Eliot his input he’s just fuckin gone, and they’re all like shit fuck Eliot’s about to kill people, but Eliot only knocks everybody out and comes back in later with whoever was taken/hurt cradled in his arms and he’s just whispering reassurances and comfort to them and maybe he’s injured bc he couldn’t care less about being hurt he just had to get them back and eventually he’ll tend to himself but right now parker/hardison is the priority and besides, he’s always had worse and is well equipped to handle a “little” pain (depending on how much you like whump) and just aidbsbsndjxj

on earth day, she takes you on her favorite hike. you lie on a checkered picnic blanket, enjoying your homemade lunch, and watch scattered clouds race by. you reach over to kiss her cheek and she blushes. there is absolutely nowhere you’d rather be. you walk back in the gathering dusk, distant city lights just starting to glow.
my girlfriend is studying outside on her college campus and keeps sending me pictures of the trees, sunbathing turtles, and dogs walking by. apparently she wants to take a nap here and use my boobs as a pillow (i’ve never loved her more)
girls loving girls? pure. girls walking down the street holding hands? amazing. girls kissing at the beach? perfect. girls running into each others arms at airports? The Dream.
take a walk through nature.i find this to be very relaxing, especially when you’re walking paths that you never walked before. you keep spotting new things and can be alone with your mind for a minute
read a book. especially after studying, this is a good way to let your mind rest a bit. you can sit at home and make it as cozy as possible
photograph. this way you can appreciate the details nature has to offer, whilst also being quite busy with getting the right angle and things like that
write something. try to build a world, and make it your own with the rules and characters you want. this is also a great way to escape reality. you can also let your deepest thoughts out without getting judged
put on some music. do i even need to explain this one?
………Maybe, at least in fantasy settings where the cave systems are more like ours, dwarves typically have stockier builds for their height because dwarves with lighter frames had lower survival rates.
(cw: caving/claustrophobia) caves don’t need to be occupied by something alive or sentient to be dangerous. A lot of caving tragedies involve people who got stuck in places rescuers couldn’t properly reach, because the trapped caver had fit into tighter squeezes.
If there’s spaces where only you’re able to crawl through, and you get stuck in there, you’re pretty much screwed. In a lot of cases, it isn’t even safe for rescuers to retrieve the body, and they end up sealing off that tunnel, shaft, sometimes the whole cavern.
I think there’s a lot of untapped potential in relating subterranean worldbuilding to real-world mining and spelunking.
Also it’s harder to get nutrients underground, so smaller size would mean you need fewer calories. There’s also a standard body type for borrowing creatures, of which “short stout limbs” is a trait, seen in everything from crickets to reptiles to marsupial, Laurasiatherian, and Afrotherian “moles” (“true” moles are the Laurasiatherian ones; the African ones are more related to aardvarks, elephants, and manatees).
I don’t think cave species meet all the same physiological criteria as burrowers, but I do like the idea of dwarves having more shovelly hands than other anthropes.
Then again, it’s also possible that they’re still relatively early into their evolutionary track toward cave/burrow adaptations, like how rabbits aren’t built as much like a mole or earthworm.
That’s another angle that I think would be interesting to explore more in the genre. If human-adjacent races were to share a genus with humans, what could be inferred from, say, elf physiology? (This may also depend on details specific to the canons of traditional folklore vs. D&D, LotR, WoW, etc.)

Take a story you have mixed feelings about, shift the perspective and timeframe if you need to, canonize your personal interpretations and fix it according to all your critiques. Keep adding personal touches until all that’s left to make it a fundamentally different story is to change the characters’ names and faces. Not enough? Repeat with another story. The crossover is your new foundation. Now start drafting.
I call this the Ship of Theseus method of storybuilding.
