Boy have I been a bit busy at work! I guess that’s a good thing, but I end up not having too much time for blogging :-/ Im not not gone, I’m just busy, so no worries here. Isn’t it wonderful when one article of clothing just makes you feel fantastic?! This skirt from Club Monaco always does it for me. It finally cooled down in NYC on Monday with some rain and heavy clouds, and while I probably would be a bit bummed because the weather isn’t as sunny as I would like it to be, this skirt just makes me smile :-). Look at it! It’s bright, it’s cheery, it’s flowy, how can you NOT be happy wearing it?! My feet were wet, my purse was wet, my hair was frizzing, but I must have been the happiest girl just strolling along Midtown heading back home from work. Yeah, it’s that kind of skirt.
My inspiration today was the Jil Sander Spring 2011 collection. So simple, yet elegant and breezy, and a flower in your hair is the perfect touch for a tropical country like Singapore. Of course, when I go back home to NYC, I will definitely be wearing this outfit in the city. This look actually goes well for both day and night, depending on what it is you’re doing.
Club Monaco is cool, current, and just up right expensive which are some of my favorite qualities! But in all seriousness this spring/summer lookbook had me drooling. First lets talk about the all the freaking color; I mean spring is here and it’s at Club Monaco that’s a fact. I’m pretty sure my heart skipped a beat when I saw all the jackets, sweaters, and parkas that they had, I’m addicted to a great parka, they’re my weakness. Now Club Monaco is for the everyday guy who happens to have the Centurion Card from American Express. With being said the pieces that really caught my eye; the printed shorts for one (every guy must own a pair). Every dapper guy needs a great grey suit (BUY ONE).IF you learn anything from these spring/summer collections I hope that’s it’s the fact that you need colored trousers, I own about 8 pairs of colored trousers, bottom line invest in some colored trousers. Also just because it’s spring doesn’t mean you can’t rock some knitwear unless you live in the south like myself, save them for fall. Also cargo pants are a must for spring. Now I have to give a shout out to the accessories from this collection there is a leather bag in collection that is yours for a cool $300, tax refund you have a home! The bags are just immaculate I need all of them (for everyday of the week, very practical). In recap Club Monaco has got it going on, spring done so well I might go insane.
Rocking another concert tee today. This one is from the Ryan Adams show at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton last week. It’s still warm enough to wear sandals, and I’m thrilled!

Wow, Taylor, that coat is really starting to look familiar. That might be because I own it in three colors right now. Yes, that’s right. Three. The same coat. Just different colors. Am I obsessed? Probably. But I already have plans to buy it in black IF Club Monaco ever decides to make a black one. I told my mom this and she rolled her eyes and told me that there’s going to come a time when I don’t even like the coat (AKA probably in a couple of months) and I will have four useless coats and a whole lot of wasted money. But on the bright side, at least I’m looking hella stylish in my coat(s) for the short term.
Now that I have this coat in baby pink (see here), camel (see here) and now light grey, it’s really got me to thinking which color is my favorite. Because apparently, there are no better things to think about. The pink is just so me whereas the camel is a very classic coat that goes with all my business outfits and the grey is a little more casual in my opinion. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that I love them all equally. My three children. Oh, and Oakley. The most important child.
So yes, as I was saying, the grey is definitely more casual and to show that, I wore it very casually today. I threw on a mustard yellow (duh) sweater underneath with my Citizens of Humanity Liya jeans. I have a bone to pick with these jeans. Why is it that straight leg jeans seems to be so damn unflattering on me? They just make my legs look so short and wide. Or, maybe my legs just really are short and wide. These are the thoughts that keep me awake at night. I’m kidding. There’s bigger problems in the world, folks.
To finish off the outfit, I’m wearing my cabbie/newsboy/train conductor hat because - yup, you guessed it - my hair was greasy and I didn’t have time to wash it. Ahh, what a wonderful thing hats are. For shoes, I have on my Kendall & Kylie shiny patent leather boots. I really love the look of these boots but they’re just so impractical in Edmonton winters. They’re so slippery because they have absolutely zero grip on the bottom. Why are so many pairs of shoes like that?! Do shoe designers not realize that we can’t all live in places with summer all year round? I’m starting a rebellion, y’all. We ain’t buying any more shoes until they start being equipped with better grip on the bottom. Seems like a reasonable reaction to this problem.
“They don’t have the pink colour in this coat at Club Monaco anymore because it was last season’s but they do have it in a gorgeous camel colour as well as a grey! I’m seriously debating getting the camel colour but my shopping has been out of control lately. But if you see the camel version of this coat on the blog next week, you will know I couldn’t resist it any longer.”

When I got the pale pink Club Monaco Daylina coat last winter (ootd here), we all knew it was only a matter of time before I bit the bullet and bought it in two more colours. I tried to hold out as long as I could but when Boxing Day rolled around and the coats went on sale for more than half off, I just couldn’t wait any longer. So now, I have this coat in not one, not two, but THREE different colours. Light pink, camel and grey. What more could a girl need? Maybe the coat in black as well? Yes, I definitely need that. So, if Club Monaco releases this coat in black next winter, we all know what I will be buying.
After wearing my camel Topshop coat for years (see here), I figured it was time to invest in something warmer and nicer. This one is such a thick wool so it keeps me toasty warm even in the coldest of Edmonton winter days. Plus, it’s quite a bit longer than the jackets I’m used to, hitting me around mid-calf so that helps keep me warm as well! Underneath the coat, I’m wearing one of my favorite blazers from Zara. It’s an oversized boyfriend fit with no lapel so it’s a super easy piece to either dress up or down! I’ve been loving the whole layering coats and blazers look lately and as an added bonus, it helps keep me even warmer!
