i know i mentioned this one million years ago but nerron really is out here spending half his life aggressively daydreaming. this isnt by any means every incident where you see him fantasizing, just a few occasions in the golden yarn.
Mittwoch war mal wieder der Flohmarkt in meiner Stadt und ich habe ein bisschen geshoppt. Hauptsächlich waren es Bücher, obwohl das gar nicht beabsichtigt war. Ich habe 7 Bücher gekauft und ich glaube ca. 10€ dafür bezahlt.
Es waren 3 Harry Potter Bücher, da ist mir bloß ein kleiner Fehler unterlaufen und ich hab zweimal Harry Potter and the goblte of fire gekauft. Ich dachte das eine wäre Order oft he Phoenix und hab mich zu Hause total darüber geärgert, aber shit happens.
Außerdem habe ich noch vier Wilde Hühner Bücher gekauft. Ich weiß nicht ob ich euch das schon mal erzählt habe, aber ich wollte mir die Reihe gerne auf Flohmärkten zusammen suchen. Dieses Mal war ich sehr erfolgreich und so fehlt mir jetzt nur noch „Die wilden Hühner und das Leben“.
Die Bücher sind auch schon fast komplett durchgelesen und sie haben mir wieder total gut gefallen, die Geschichten der Mädels sind einfach süß.

The fourth MirrorWorld / ‘Reckless’ novel in the MirrorWorld / 'Reckless’ novel series
Today I finally got the fourth Reckless novel “The Silver Tracks”.
After 6 years and 4 extra days of waiting (originally it was released November 4, 2021, but my copy’s arrival kept being pushed back twice) I finally got it.
But, as much as I love the novel series there’s one thing I’m not overly fond of.
The overall appearance of the novel.
Just let me do a quick comparison down here below:
On the left we have my 2016 revision of the first novel in the series The Petrified Flesh, released by Breathing Books (the author’s own publishing company at the time which is discontinued by now). On the right there’s the 2021 English edition of The Silver Tracks.
What doesn’t sit well with me are several things:
1. Different publishers; Cornelia Funke, the author would always put a golden ribbon in her novels published by Breathing Books. When it comes to Pushkin Press which published the book for her instead of herself, there is no ribbon to be seen at all. And I’m going to miss that ribbon. Badly.
2. Height difference: notice how Reckless 4 somehow doesn’t fit in height because again different publisher. It’s so small.
3. Pages; So far all my MirrorWorld novels began at page number 1. Why the heck should it be different for the newest installment and start at page 9??? What’s the reason behind that?
4. Table of contents; This is fine I suppose since no MirrorWorld novel appears to have one except older versions?
5. Feel of the cover: All the covers of my MirrorWorld novels so far feel smooth whereas the Reckless 4 On The Silver Tracks one feels kind of rough?
6. Shimmer: The previous reckless novels are shinier and have a specific shimmer. When looking at the German edition of Reckless 4 the Kitsune’s tails are golden. Whereas the English one has no to little shimmer.
7. Taking the dustcover off; so far every installment that has a dustcover has a similar cover underneath. Reckless 4 is just
blank
I don’t get that not at all.
Seven massive complaints aside about the appearance of this novel, I’m going to love the story plot once more I’m certain.
Just not the novel’s appearance which is pretty much a thorn in my eye and I’m not alone in that.
In short I honestly really miss how Cornelia Funke’s Breathing Books publishing company (run by her along with Mirada) used to publish the novels.
Not only was it a treat for the bookworm heart to read but also a treat for the eye.
I won’t stop reading these series regardless of how Pushkin Press approached the fourth novel’s appearance.

“Fine, I give up”. No words hurt more than those as they fell from the lips of the eldest brother.
Especially when considering he had always been there for his younger brother Will. Well, almost always…
He had been there for him at the playground whenever four graders would pick on him. Making them run as fast as they could when he’d appear on the playground, shielding Will and punching them in their faces, kicking their knees and punching them in their stomachs until they’d hand Will’s stuff back. He had even gotten into a fight with a girl once but that had little to nothing to do with Will getting bullied.
He had been there for him each time he was unable to find sleep when they had been younger; either terrified by thunderstorms, the dark, monsters in his closet, mr. Tomkins; which jacob had told him to be a human-eating Ogre living in the elevator, causing him to be extremely scared to go to preschool. Will would often seek comfort near his eldest brother. He’d have slowly opened the door, standing on his naked feet in the dark, hugging his stuffed animal close before he’d slowly make his way over to his bed and crawl underneath the covers. This would wake Jacob. He’d be annoyed at first but soon go back to sleep, wrapping his arms around Will and hold him close.
He’d have his back. He’d be rescueing him from his nightmares. He’d keep him warm and safe. Always.
Except for the day they had to fend for themselves all of a sudden and had no one but each other left anymore. When Will needed him the most, he was nowhere to be seen. Will was left on his own, experiencing sleepless nights and pain. Not just from the fact they only had one another to look after now. Pain from standing in his brother’s shadow. Envy, so much envy.
Will was his brother and he loved him. That was the truth. Their sibling bond was unlike any other but ever since he had discovered the mirror it had begun to gradually show subtle cracks.
These days each brother had taken different paths and travelled different roads. They were living different lives and even so Jacob couldn’t help to stop carrying him. To be his brother’s keeper. Up until now. Celeste wanted him to forget his brother, but at the same time also wished he could see him again, knowing how much Will meant to him. Or had meant to him.
To seemingly grow further and further apart after so many years of protecting his little brother, being there for him through thick and thin for the most part, hurt. Yet neither of them could really dwell in the past. Jacob was who he was. Will had accepted who and what he was now.
It was best to keep it that way even though the eldest didn’t want to have things remain like they were between them now. He wanted to mend their bond, but to mend it seemed too late. Far too late.
And so Jacob let Will be, going each their own way. Living their own lives. Even though he found it hard to stop being his brother’s keeper.

Yes, he did keep “Fox” safe. From the day he had first met her.
He had been but thirteen years old and was a long way from the full - fledged treasure hunter he was now when they met. The vixen had snapped in his arm but had only ever caught his sleeve inbetween her jaws. Her world had been drowning in pain as a trap had clenched shut onto her hind leg, giving her the thin scars she’d now carry with her at all times.
If he hadn’t been there that day, she’d have either attempted to bite her trapped leg off or wait, until the hunter came to collect that what he had caught. Hunters at MirrorWorld were infamous for clubbing the head of a fox in, because they were highly superstitious and thought any fox to be associated with the Devil. Which, besides all that made MirrorWorld, was all too real. There was plenty of proof he was. People were simply oblivious to realise he’d come in a disguise.
By now “Fox” and he were inseparatable. There wouldn’t be a moment he wouldn’t be trying his hardest to keep her safe. And the same went for him. Fox would guard his sleep, which was restless the majority of the time. Warn him of things his dull human senses were unable to detect, aid him during their treasure hunts together, be his shield.
His furry shadow.
Like any couple, they had their ups and downs. Keeping each other safe was, at the moment, getting harder and harder to do. Their profession didn’t come without danger. Without risk and Jacob’s list of enemies was ever growing.
They were incredibly reluctant to tell one another how much they meant to one another. Such a thing could be dangerous in a world like this one. Still, even without the exchange of words they knew how much they were drawn to one another. “Fox” knew Jacob would go through hell and back for her. Traverse the world for her. This side or the other one.
Several times.
She’d do the same in return, despite being less fond of his world which he so longed to show her more of.
At the moment, they were sharing the bed and “Fox” couldn’t help but admire his sleeping face. It looked content, relaxed, unlike all the other times he slept. She liked to wonder what he was dreaming of.
Either the title may be the same with the English edition or it’s going to be Reckless 4 Kitsune in English instead.
‘’On silver track’’ only makes sense though.
The English edition of this beauty might or might not be a long way off still but heck am I happy with this official cover reveal. I can’t get over how gorgeous it is. Especially that fox and all those golden flames on its nine tails.
It only took almost five long years but it’s so going to be worth the wait.
I do hope Jacob and Fox will finally admit they love each other in this novel. Yet that would need one heartwrecking moment, I think.
