#cripple punk

The annoying thing about working one of my two part-time jobs pretty much every day of the week is that it’s really hard to find a time to wear graphic T-shirts, especially the weird ones.  I’ve had this @lingthusiasm shirt for like two months, but haven’t worn it until now, when we had a brief bout of alarmingly pleasant weather for January.

I finally got new glasses!  I think I’d had the silver ones for something like two years, even though they were old and bent out of shape, because I was being lazy about finding a new eye doctor.  But now that I’ve moved, I’m right up the road from a great office, so I got these.  I may even get a second pair at some point, because there were these cute sort of cat-eye ones, and this is the first time I’ve EVER found a pair of cat-eye-esque glasses that looks good on me.  (I can get a second pair because horrible autoimmune eye disorders run in my family, so Mum shelled out for the good eye insurance.)

Okay, I guess the lighting tips I got don’t work quite as well when it’s 6 PM and completely dark out, even if you’re using both of your photography lights.  Natural light will always win!  Anyway, this is what I wore to see the newest Star Wars–I made the shirt!  My feelings on both it and the movie are… mixed.  I’m going to post some details of the outfit/my hair on my Instagram (same username as here) so I guess check that out if you’re curious.

We had a little holiday event at work–there’ll be a fancier party later–and since I’m not exactly a big fan of celebrating the usual sort of winter holiday I went for more of a snowy/frosty winter look.  With little pops of red for cardinals or holly berries, I guess?

I got some advice from a portrait photographer on my lighting, and it turns out I was probably using… too much light?  Apparently if I use the window and two umbrella lights it’s coming from too many angles.  So while this is still a little dark and grainy, I think it’s noticeably better than previous photos.

This scarf matched the skirt a lot better when I was putting this outfit together in a dimly lit room late the night before I wore it.

Interestingly enough, when I went to talk to my boss while wearing this monitor, she mentioned that she’s had to wear one in the past.  And the day before, when I went to get my hair dyed, my hairdresser also recognized that it was a Holter, but I was expecting that because I know he has heart problems too.
