right then so I just finished crooked kingdom and I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the grishaverse generally so I’m going to share them here now
First off, let’s talk about the shadow and bone trilogy.
- Enjoyed v much, the lore, the powers, the plot, all of it was just so enticing and different and it was rly interesting
- Not gonna lie wish that some of the characters had more depth (@mal)
- But alina was a powerful girl trying her best to protect the people she loved. Loved her a lot
- PLOT TWISTS IN EVERY BOOK. literally everytime I went “OF COURSE. HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS COMING”
- Super dramatic and emotional and complicated and interesting and just loved Leigh’s writing style and narration and the
- NIKOLAIIIIIIII love him so freaking much, and genya!! Toya and Tamar and David and jshdskhfx
- loved/hated darkling, LOVED alina, LOVED nikolai, accepted mal, ending made me go
- Not gonna say I loved the ending, but it was cute and made me happy. They’re happy so I’m happy. Not much else to say haha
Now, let’s talk about six of crows
- The CHARACTER DEPTH. GIRL. Like every single one of them had a deep emotional story and were complicated people. I loved the characters in alina’s story but everyone in six of crows was just,,,,wow
- DIVERSITY!! In color, abilities, size, everything just, so so good
- KAZ TERRIFIES ME CONSTANTLY BUT HE’S REALLY J A BIG SOFTIE AND WANTS THE BEST FOR PEOPLE AROUND HIM AND and the the revenge he needed and relieved just, wow
- Inej and nina and Mattias and jesper and Wylan and kaz and their friendships and bonds to each other and dhjsshhddhfusjja
- Honestly Leigh couldve split the story into 3 books but I’m so glad she didn’t bc the fast pace of both books works so well
- ugh. I’m sad its over but happy too
- I don’t wanna say it was better than the other ones but… I kinda liked it more? Idk but the dulogy just felt more complex?? I enjoyed the Grisha trilogy a lot but I think I enjoyed the dulogy more. Maybe I just like heists and thievery more lmao
- Overall both were v good and enjoyable series :)
Alright, now about that Netflix adaptation…
- I’m kinda scared. Like the last update they had introduced the cast, but the cast shown was from both series. So does that mean they’re gonna try combining the stories?
- I think Jesper was canonically darker and Nina was canonically bigger but i could be wrong. I mean getting semi-accurate rep and casting is good step so
- After the ATLA dissapointment im a little worried that netflix might drop the complexities and emotional sides of characters to add more “sex, drugs, and romance” into the plot which is… bladgshdys
- I have a feeling they’re gonna try to throw some kind of a love triangle in there or make Kaz not have issues touching people or make nina and kaz have romantic interest in each other or hfjsusjajfjdhdf
- idk im worried theyre gonna drift from the plot for the sake of ✨drama✨ we’ll see
Anywho, I’m highly reccomend these series and I enjoyed them alot. The grishaverse is complicated and interesting and enjoyable and yeah! I’m happy to be here :)))
