it took a lot of personal strength for me to not get into this when we were talking about sam and bodily autonomy yesterday but i do want to point out that it’s truly a genuinely powerful moment between sam and crowley when crowley possesses sam to help him get gadreel out and then leaves immediately. he doesn’t poke around. he doesn’t make sam’s body do anything. he doesn’t make sam say anything. he doesn’t give himself access to information sam has that would be helpful for him and his own goals. he gets in there, he finds sam, he tells him exactly what’s happening immediately, and afterwards, he leaves. this is perhaps the most respect anyone has shown for sam’s bodily autonomy on the entire show, especially from a character who is being given the opportunity to do the opposite on a silver platter. crowley’s a demon. crowley is not sam winchester’s friend. there is so much he could’ve done in that moment or the ones following with a full-access pass to sam’s body and mind, which was given to him by dean (and by castiel). and he doesn’t! he just doesn’t! he helps and he leaves. he possesses sam only so sam doesn’t have to be possessed anymore.
crowley simply has the most respect for sam as an individual, autonomous person out of potentially everyone else on the show, and in this hour long video essay, i will cover—
