Finally got the new Mushrooms are People Too! shirts printed!!
These new blanks from Alternative Apparel are pretty different than the previous tees, but I really like the vintage feel. They’ve got a looser weave, they’re super soft, and the fabric blend almost forces a vintage look to a water-based + discharge print. It really works for this illustration for sure.

Great outing yesterday put in the Oregon Coast Range with @jack.blackham & all the dogs!!
Still some soggy Chanterelles out there, some great specimen of Cup Fungi (thought Peziza sp. first, but maybe Sarcosoma sp. like S. mexicana or latahensis?) and a wild quantity of the Ramaria sp. shown as well. We didn’t come back with a heap of edibles, but the dogs are tired and the forest was quiet.

Our new Mushrooms Are People Too tees are almost ready!!
Ran a proof & wash test on the Alternative Apparel “Keeper” tees we switched to for 2019.
They are a lighter yellow tone, the fabric is softer with a slightly looser feel—really has that old shirt vintage feel.
Pretty happy how they turned out & should be running the first batch before the end of the week!!

Sunrise at the Mission, back in Baja.

It sure was nice to break out of the holiday madness this year with a quick trip to Baja with my wife & partner in crime @phillydoh .
Coming back & starting up another year of hustlin’ has been a little bit of a struggle.
The contrast of January to the craziness of retail between Thanksgiving & Xmas can be disconcerting.
There is so much space in my schedule right now that feels like I should be utilizing to round out the ‘business’ side of CRVDPLS, but as an artist first & entrepreneur second it can be hard to efficiently achieve business goals.
I feel like I go through this cycle almost monthly of seriously questioning the current manifestation of my attempt to make a living as an artist, and I’m there right now.
Instagram can be a blessing & a curse in showing you a vast spectrum of how folks find that balance, but it can be a downward spiral of feeling like you aren’t keeping up, or a perception that there are right & wrong ways to do ‘it’.
So, thanks for bearing with this project as I go through these phases of posturing, adapting and consistently trying to just make it work.
I do love the creative aspects of what I do, and the great community of all you folks it has connected me with in varying levels of tangibility—I cant imagine doing anything else with my time.
That’s really all we’ve got, the choice of what to do with time.
It’s limited, and it’s our only real currency.
One step in front of the other, let’s all get out there today and just get one little thing done that keeps the little fire inside our ribcage burning.
Also, take your shoes off and stand on some real live earth—it feels good.
