Here’s a little double-terminated calcite crystal from a trip the other day out west of Austin. I don’t find very many of these as most of the crystals here form as clusters or grow into the walls of the cavities they formed in, but occasionally a perfect scalenohedron pops out :)

Not a fossil (yet), but I can never resist picking up reptiles when I’m out hiking. These spiny lizards are usually pretty skittish, but this one was laying on the damp earth in the shade and didn’t seem to mind being picked up.
