Day 12 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write a new piece of lore for your WIP.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

Since their ‘magical’ tattoos are a dead giveaway on who the reincarnated five are, the rest of the group later each get tattoos to confuse their enemies.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 19 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write about something that you can see from your window.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

The storm outside let the street lamp in front of her window swing back and forth, lighting up her bedroom and then plunging it in darkness once again.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 18 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write about your MCs favourite outfit.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

Frieda’s favourite outfit, is nothing she wore. She is known to always wear a necklace from her parents, but her favourite outfit is the red dress she first saw Emilia in.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 17 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write a road trip scene.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

Both of my current wips are one entire road trip scene, so I will leave it at that for now :)

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 16 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write the dialogue for a scene that’s been on your mind.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

“How wonderful it would be to live here. Just look at them. How happy they all are here.” - “It almost feels like…”

“Like we finally came home.”

“I don’t want to leave anymore.”

“I don’t either.”

But we have to.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 15 - Daily Writing Challenge

What do you admire about your MC?

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

For Frieda, I admire her faith in humanity, despite seeing the contrary.

For Amaria, I admire her strength and willpower. And her ambition. I’m definitely not that ambitious myself.

For Karmi, I admire his loyalty and that he loves his family so much.

For Iljas, I admire his undying optimism. That he can make everything lighter, even the darkest nights. I admire how he very openly and still also subtly loves his friends and family and does everything to help them out and keep them save.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 11 - Daily Writing Challenge

What nicknames does your MC have and who gave them to them?

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

Going with Amaria for this one:

Iljas and Karmi are calling her mostly Ama, her old mentor calls her Mondkind/Moonchild. Because she is quite bossy, the rest of the group sometimes calls her boss to annoy her, but she actually likes being the boss, so she accepts it.

Day 10 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write a 5 sentence long short story from three different perspectives.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

1. It was just one moment of abstraction. The setting sun shone bright in his eyes, making it impossible to see anything. Paired with the headphones in his ears, he was completely unaware of his surroundings. The impact came as a total surprise to him and literally swept him off his feet. For a moment he thought he saw stars, but then he realized he stared into the worried eyes of his attacker.

2. She was going fast, flying down the promenade. With the setting sun in her back and the wind in her hair, she felt alive and invincible. She weaved her way through the people with ease, humming a song she had heard on the radio earlier. Not paying attention for a second, she couldn’t stop fast enough when a man came up in front of her, obviously lost in his own world. His body broke her own fall, but she made sure to check that she hadn’t injured him too badly.

3. He was on the side of the promenade almost every day, selling ice cream to the passersby. He let his gaze drift away for a bit, blinking against the setting sun. A woman came down the boardwalk on skates, a little bit too fast maybe. ‘Thank god, she wears a helmet’, he thought to himself and then noticed the oblivious man coming down the promenade from the other side. He couldn’t warn them anymore and he flinched when he saw them collide.

Bonus: From the distance, the ice cream seller could see them both standing up, uninjured and holding each other’s gaze - with big smiles on their faces.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 9 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write a poem about an empty house.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

The Empty House

No one lives here anymore,

no light flickering from an abandoned TV,

no figures curled up, fallen asleep on the couch,

no smell of fresh coffee in the morning,

no water running in the shower,

no pitter-patter coming down the stairs,

no cries, no laughter, no exhausted sighs,

no sign of life inside the empty house.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 8 - Daily Writing Challenge

Explain your MCs motivation in 3 sentences.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

Frieda - Over the course of her story, she starts with wanting to explore places away from her home. But when it all comes crushing down, she wants nothing more than to get back home. After realizing that she can never go home again, she tries to built herself and her new family a new home.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 1 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write 5 sentences for your WIP right now.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

-

The train had seen better days. The seats were torn up, everywhere was garbage, and through the dirty windows, sprayed over with graffiti, was hardly coming any light. It was a testament to all the years the train had brought many different people from A to B. Here and there you could still see a glimpse of its former glory, and it almost felt like the train was torn from a promising past and thrown into a grim future. She asked herself, with a quick glance to her companion, what kind of future would their destination bring for them?

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 14 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write about one your OC’s tattoos or someone getting one done.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

In my first WIP, a group of my MCs each have a tattoo at the back of their necks that basically magically appeared, marking them as deities.

creativepromptsforwriting:

Day 13 - Daily Writing Challenge

Write a micro story about someone saying “thank you”.

Do it for yourself or put it under this post!

She wasn’t one to say ‘thank you’.

But she wasn’t ungrateful. It was just that the words were beat out of her. A goddess, a leader, a warrior didn’t have to say thank you.

But she did.

The way she smiled just for him, when he wordlessly handed her some food. The way she bumped shoulders with any of them, after they tried to cheer her up. And they knew. Her actions didn’t only knew violence and while her mouth didn’t want to form the words she wanted to say, they heard them loud and clear.

Thank you.

Daily Writing Challenge

Day 4: Write a 10 sentence long short story about the object next to you.

How many years have passed since those old hands painstakingly created such a wonderful masterpiece? Yarn of blue and green twisted and knotted into a blanket that would keep the family warm during cold days. Something to wrap around the shoulders of the tired and sick or the happy and joyful. The colors are dated and not very pretty, but the love weaved into the blanket still remains. When she first made it, did she know how many lives it would touch? So many memories in something so small – passed down throughout the years from daughter to daughter. The great-grandchild holds it now with such reverence. If she closes her eyes she can still remember the days spent under pillow forts and smell the hot chocolate on snowy days and taste the warm milk her grandmother made her when she couldn’t sleep. On those dark and lonely days, she wraps it around herself. She remembers that she is loved.

Daily Writing Challenge

Day 3: What are your OCs pet peeves?

Hazel: Lying. Hazel hates being lied to. A big pet peeve is when people aren’t kind to others. Also when supernatural beings follow her around in public.

Nellie: For whatever reason, Gary’s presence just pisses her off. There’s something about them that bothers Nellie. I have a hunch that it has something to do with how naive and innocent Gary looks at the world. She also hates being ignored.

Guzanaazath “Gary”: Great question. I have no idea about this one. Gary is still relatively young. They’ve only come about within the last 30 years or so and they’re still learning about the world.

Daily Writing Challenge

Day 2: Imagine a place where you would like to be and write about what you would do there.

Where do I want to be right now? Arizona. My brother calls it “the land of sunsets”, and judging by the pictures he sends the family chat, I have to agree with him. The scenery is always so beautiful in the pictures he takes and I really want to see it myself. I want to go on hikes and visit with my brother. I want to sightsee and maybe visit the other states around. I really just want to explore.

Daily Writing Challenge

Day 1: Write 5 sentences for your WIP right now.

((knowing this writing challenge is mainly for OCs but still including one of my fanfic wips))

Taiyou’s parents have always warned him of the dangers of humans and the possibility of falling in love with one. They say it will only lead to heartbreak and rejection because they don’t under the supernatural. The problem is that all the other supernatural creatures Taiyou knows are jerks – coughNarumiyacough – except his best friends, Toujou and Nao, and maybe Tadano, but Taiyou can’t understand why such a nice guy like that would end up with Narumiya, of all people.

And if humans are supposed to be so bad, then why is this stern-faced man looking at that kitten with such kind eyes and giving it food? And why is his heart beating so fast like that?

Hero, make a wish - Part 1

“There are many things you do as a child. Most of these things you don’t remember, a few you wish you didn’t remember, and then there are some moment that stay with you forever-“

“Robyn I just asked you to give me one good reason I should go to that movie premiere at 2am with you, not a fully narrated backstory.”

“I was getting to it ! You interrupted just as it was getting good !”

Jiyoung scoffed and tried to push her friend off the couch with her feet. Getting kicked in the side wasn’t exactly enjoyable but he had to admit that maintaining the precarious balance of her plate of grilled cheese, the remote control all the while kicking him was quite impressing. It hurt, sure, but it was impressing.

“There’s no need to resort to violence ! I’ll tell you ! But promise you won’t laugh.”

“Can’t, making fun of you is a hobby of mine.” She wriggled her eyebrows playfully with a big smirk on her face. Then again, that smirk was always on her face.

“When I was younger-“

“But not any smaller.”

“When I was younger-

“You’re short. I’m calling you short.”

“Yeah I got it,” he sighed, “So when I was younger, I used to read a lot of superhero comic books.”

“You still do.”

“Okay do you want me to tell you the good reason you should come see that movie with me or do you just want to keep interrupting me ?”

“Hm. Good question. What do I like the most : hearing your embarrassing childhood stories or annoying you by interrupting you ?”

In one swift, bright orange flash of throw pillow Robyn smacked her upside the head.

“Oi ! Watch the grilled cheese Rob !”

“So I used to read these comic books. And obviously I loved the superheroes. I really wanted to be like them. Particularly Light Fantastic, he was just so amazing… he was so strong and fast and powerful, and he had a cape which to my young mind is the paragon of awesome. When I was eight I begged my mom to have a Light Fantastic based birthday party. When I turned ten she told me I could get any haircut I wanted and I didn’t even hesitate one second to chose the same as his. And… I used to think that if I practiced enough I could get superpowers just like him.”

“Seriously ?”

“Yeah. I tried to lift my father’s dumbbells. I also tried to lift any big rocks I could find in my garden. One day I dropped one on my foot and broke a toe.”

“I hope you know I’m trying my very best not to make fun of you right now.”

“The point is ! They’re finally adapting his comics into a movie and I really want to go see it with my best friend and roommate and most incredible person in my life !”

“But it’s at 2am.”

“Yes but it’s a premier and the cast will be here and they’re going to give out merch !”

“Fine ! I’ll go with you !”

“Thank you !”

“But on one condition.”

“What ?”

“Please don’t embarrass me…”

Okay so, to challenge myself and write more this year.

So - mostly thanks to @the-child-of-darkness - I decided to write something every day inspired by one theme : Nostalgia.

This will be the master post of all the days that I’ll update as I go (so yeah for now it’s a bit empty).

I hope you’ll enjoy it !
