I’ve seen tons of these floating around for character/OC inspiration but after having a long conversation with my spouse over thematic tone in movies and games, we started talking about media that’s inspired our tone/plot/themes for the homebrew games we run and I wanted to make a little thing for Darkwood!
Darkwoodis my homage to folklore and fairytales. Not only do I love media that toes the line between being thematically dark and whimsical, but after filling this out I realized that every one of my main inspo sources is basically a world of “A contained settlement surrounded by a vast, dangerous, unknown land.” Which is Darkwood in a nutshell!
I DID save a blank version if other DMs are interested in playing around with it! I’d love to see what inspires other people!

This is two years in the waiting- my game had been put on a hiatus and we’re only now restarting. To integrate the new players, I’m starting them off at the Carnival immediately!
My players got these as gold foil ‘invitations’ in black envelopes with a golden wax seal with a big “K” stamped on it as props. They’ve been holding onto them for two yeeeeears and got to open them last weekend. I’m so excited, guys! Can’t wait to tell you more as they go!
