The next morning, you awoke wrapped in blankets from your nest with your alpha’s arms firm around your waist.

Your alpha.

He softly snored next to you, nose buried in your hair. Daveed decided to stay up that night, not wanting to rest until you did.

The morning started off quiet. The pack was downstairs, talking amongst themselves. Most of them heard the events of the night before, but many kept it to themselves. The others, mainly Rafa, had plenty to say.

Daveed felt you shift next to him. He held you tighter, then kissed your shoulder. You looked so peaceful in the sunlight’s softness. The moment he pulled his arm away from you, you began to stir.

“Didn’t mean to wake you”, he said sheepishly

“Morning”, you grinned

Daveed’s heart nearly jumped out his chest. How could someone so beautiful be his? He pulled you into a kiss as he rested between your legs again. When his lips reached your mark, your body melted against him.

He promised to be quick as slowly slipped into you. You spread your legs to make room for him as he went back to sucking your mark and you held on for dear life.

An hour and later, you both descended the staircase refreshed and ready for the day. Rafa greeting you as you reached the bottom.

“Good morning Y/N”, he chirped, “How was your night?”

“Get the hell out of here”, Daveed groaned

“What? I can’t greet the newest member of the pack on this fine morning?”

Rafa sent you a suggestive grin as he walked away. The rest of the pack stared, but didn’t utter a word other than a greeting.

“Want to go for a walk”, Daveed asked as you both finished breakfast, “Oak is out on patrol. Rafa and Jaz are taking care of everything else. What do you say?”

“They think we’re going to fuck again, don’t they?”

“Are they wrong?”, Daveed said with a laugh

Daveed made sure you were wrapped up to his liking before stepping outside with you. The snow finally stopped. It wasn’t warm enough for it to melt, but at least it would stop for the next few days.

“Am I allowed to ask now?”, you finally spoke as you grabbed his hand

“Ask away”

“What did Benji say to make you so upset yesterday?”

Daveed stopped walking just as you reached the edge of where his territory ended. He sighed before speaking again.

“He was taunting me about you. Spared no detail about his plans of stealing you away from me just so he can make you his. He doesn’t know that we’re soulmates, but he still wants you more than anything”

“I don’t want that”, you groaned as you placed your hand on his cheek, “I want to be with you”

Daveed grinned as the wind picked up, but it was short-lived when he heard a familiar scoff.

“You don’t know what you want”, Benji groaned, “You think he can take care of you?”

“He already does, asshole”

Daveed carefully watched his footsteps. He knew Benji wasn’t dumb enough to cross the line, but he could never be too careful. He put his arm in front of you to push you behind him.

“Your family told me you were difficult, but damn it’ll make claiming you so much sweeter”

Daveed stepped forward. You could see that he was about to lose it. You turned to hold his arm, telling him it wasn’t worth it. The last thing you needed was to be in the middle of two alphas fighting.

“That’s what he wants. Don’t give in to his game”

Just as you turned back around, a gust of wind blew and it was strong enough to push your scarf away.

Benji took note as you fixed it.

“I see you noted my warning”, he gleamed

“What the hell are you talking about?”, you sneered

“You told her about our little chat, right? Then you rushed back to mark her the very same day”, he laughed, “Didn’t take long for you to stake your claim”

You grew silent. There’s no way he spent a night with you to prove a point.

“He took care of you because he didn’t want me to have you”, Benji grinned

Your heart was threatening to fall into the pit of your stomach.

“Shut the fuck up”, Daveed growled

“Daveed”, you gasped, “Tell me he’s lying”

When he looked away from you, you had your answer. You took several steps away as tears spilled over before running back inside.

Daveed didn’t bother calling or chasing after you.

“I will kill you”, Daveed sneered

“I gave you a few words of encouragement, but you did that all on your own”, Benji smirked, “Good luck”

By the time Daveed got back inside, you were in your old room with the door locked. He didn’t bother saying anything to you, knowing you wouldn’t say a word. The smell of your discomfort told him all he needed to know.

For now, he would sit outside your door and wait.
